I got no love for her, but at this point, I'd rather have Lisa Murkowski than Joe Manchin.

When we assign some responsibility to those who encourage others to act violently, smash property (or anything) then that doesn't absolve the person who does it from responsibility for their action. That doesn't imply that it's a bad thing to do - that depends, but good, bad or meh there's a responsibility for both the encourager and the actor.

It's not a zero sum game.

A growing number of Americans blame Trump for shutdown: Reuters-Ipsos poll
The national opinion poll, which ran from Jan. 1 to Jan. 7, found that 51 percent of adults believe Trump “deserves most of the blame” for the shutdown, which entered its 18th day on Tuesday. That is up 4 percentage points from a similar poll that ran from Dec. 21 to 25.

Another 32 percent blame congressional Democrats for the shutdown and 7 percent blame congressional Republicans, according to the poll. Those percentages are mostly unchanged from the previous poll.
51% is still amazingly low considering trump has said on tv that he'll take full responsibility for a government shutdown

and as we enter our 18th day of the partial government shutdown we have our first losers of the game. MadTiger and Vegasvilla8 both thought the shutdown would last only 2 weeks. just an unbelievably misguided selection, what ****ing planet are you guys on

if space aliens came down to earth and hijacked everyone's tv and phones and said, "this is a red ball. what color is my red ball?" and offered 2 choices, red and blue, it'd go 51-49

I don't want to see Trump declare a nation emergency in order to build his wall. A) because I don't care if the wall gets built or not and B) because I don't want a Trump or any president no matter who it is to get away with such a power grab.

Well I watched Trump, Schumer, and Pelosi get on their soap boxes and say what they had to say.

One side made a case of what they want to do and why. The other side just demonized their opponent. If you're not a 40 percentilier you know who did what.

Fat wolf even posts on a Moscow schedule

I think I figured out who fat wolf is:

Really? I've just been hearing them say, "Keep going Mr. President."

Many people have told me that.

Awesome. I’m flying out to Orlando next Saturday. Ready for chaos.

So happy I convinced my dad to fly out of Montreal for our trip next week.

Though the one analysis was dead on Trump looked like a hostage reading prepared lines.

Plus I thought the Democrat twins could have said what they are for specifically.

A "case" consisting of lie after lie after lie. Great case, bro. Calling a liar a liar is, I guess, demonizing your opponent, but it's a perfectly legitimate tactic when said opponent is a liar. There's not a "case" to be made when the desired outcome is the status quo and the guy who wants to do something different just keeps lying about it.

Pelosi:
President Trump must stop holding the American people hostage, must stop manufacturing a crisis, and must re-open the government.
Schumer:
There is an obvious solution: separate the shutdown from the arguments over border security. There is bipartisan legislation – supported by Democrats and Republicans – to re-open government while allowing debate over border security to continue.

There is no excuse for hurting millions of Americans over a policy difference. Federal workers are about to miss a paycheck. Some families can't get a mortgage to buy a new home. Farmers and small businesses won't get loans they desperately need.

Let the guy throwing a fit about wanting his precious $5.7 billion lay out how it's going to be spent, don't do his job for him. I'm sure the plan is to reopen the government then start negotiating exactly how much is going to be spent where but get things up and running before bailing the dotard out on policy.

Was it just not busy, or did the TSA agents not give a ****?

And so the House today passes a funding bill for financial services and general government with the vote going down strict party lines. This reportedly contains functionally the same text as the one that was part and parcel of the bill that unanimously passed the senate in December.

It is not difficult to see which party is holding the government to ransom when one votes, in its entirety, against the continued financing of aspects of government entirely unrelated to border security.

One of the most tilting things about this is obviously people not getting paid. As a business owner and employer I have held one thing first, which I learned from my father. No matter what you do with your business your employees need to be paid first. Absolutely nothing else has priority.

It is pretty crazy given one of the perceived benefits of a government job is the trust you will get paid. It’s against the law for private businesses to not pay their employees for working in a timely manner.

I’m pretty sure there is no chance any of them will be hired back. It’s generally well known that if you turn down a government position you will probably never be offered one again in that same agency though no official will ever confirm that: I would be surprised if you quit over something like this you can forget about ever getting hired back
