Meanwhile, Republican Senators Murkowski, Collins and Gardner are all for re-opening the government right away.

But thanks for naming one Democrat and ignoring all the bad faith on the right in the buildup to this shutdown and during the shutdown. Keep up the good posting!

If I had said to another poster here, "I don't like your beliefs, I wish they would send people like you back to Africa", do you think that would have been tolerated? Its the same thing Paul said except a different continent. There was no need whatsoever for Paul to involve national origin except express hate toward people from that local. It was racism, and it was given a pass here, and it backs up my claim that this place cultivates hate. Now having said what needed to be said, I'm sure the target on my back is brighter.
No one here gives a flying **** what you think about anything anymore. You are nothing but a low life hack and a terrible troll. Keep spouting off your right wing garbage that everyone realizes is patently false. We don't care. Not a single bit. You're a nobody that will be ignored from now on. Take that as whatever kind of target you wish. Now go **** off and don't come back.

Next paycheck is the one millions of deplorables depend on to pay rent and mortgage for next month.

Fox News is showing public opinion turning against wall (that’s a lie. Public opinion was never for the wall” and the article closes with Schumer quote about how Trump should reopen the government to help farmers.

Agent Orange’s Friends are getting ready. Even they see a train wreck coming and they think this ****s a loser.

McConnel getting the **** out of town and letting Trump take all the heat pretty much told anyone watching that McConnel thinks this is a loser too and he wants nothing to do with it.

McConnel knows when to fold a losing hand and he folded this one a month ago.

MrWookie, I think you've had enough time to cite your claim that Trump reneged. Its safe to say your argument rested upon "facts" that occurred in some other reality.

In other news. Slimy Nancy and Chuck and the rest of the dems are still refusing to negotiate, prolonging the grief and misery this shut down is causing.

"The President has a proposal on the table that includes additional technology at ports of entry, allows minors from Central America to seek asylum in their home country, and physical barriers between ports of entry made of steel instead of concrete," she said. "Today, the President offered both Democrats and Republicans the chance to meet for lunch at the White House. Unfortunately, no Democrats will attend. The President looks forward to having a working lunch with House Republicans to solve the border crisis and reopen the government.

It's in your own citation that Trump changed his mind December 20th after pressure from TV personalities.

Are we still doing fighter jet flyovers? Maybe on account of shutdown, Trump can pay for some biplanes with MAGA banners instead.

I'm interested in hearing theories about what the most likely scenarios are for how this ends. Because I can't figure one out.

I actually think one of the most likely ones is that it gets so bad and so many people are hurting that eventually the Dems are just like ok ok.

Trump caves then declares victory, imo. He's already burned through .5% of first quarter GDP. Something has to give.

Quote:
The Trump administration now estimates that the cost of the government shutdown will be twice as steep as originally forecast.

The original estimate that the partial shutdown would subtract 0.1 percentage point from growth every two weeks has now been doubled to a 0.1 percentage point subtraction every week, according to an official who asked not to be named.

The administration had initially counted just the impact from the 800,000 federal workers not receiving their paychecks. But they now believe the impact doubles, due to greater losses from private contractors also out of work and other government spending and functions that won't occur.
Also, bolded seems like a pretty ****ing lol error for pros to make.

I liked last week's theory that he declares an emergency and/or martial law, knowing it will be challenged in the courts, has the army corps of engineers throw down a dozen sandbags, then when he loses in court, says he built the wall and MAGAd despite obstruction and assassination attempts by Pelosi.

In a West Wing in Transition, Trump Tries to Stand Firm on the Shutdown
“We are getting crushed!” Mr. Trump told his acting chief of staff, Mick Mulvaney, after watching some recent coverage of the shutdown, according to one person familiar with the conversation. “Why can’t we get a deal?”

The president is confronted by a divided and partially shuttered government with an untested staff that has undergone yet another shake-up. Polls show that most Americans blame him for the government shutdown, and his advisers are warning him of its negative effects on the economy. And as the shutdown enters its 27th day on Thursday with no end in sight, most of his top aides would like him to find a way out.

Mr. Trump has told them he believes over time the country will not remember the shutdown, but it will remember that he staged a fight over his insistence that the southern border be protected. He wants Democrats to come back to the table agreeing with his position on a wall, and he does not understand why they have not.
