Perfect.

Sorry, I didn't know you were from Mass. I didn't check your bio or remember if you posted that someplace else.

Droopy,

No. There are small employer credits too.

Employers facing large increases are going to be in a tough spot - dumping their plan and having employees go through the Exchange isn't necessarily a good solution for employee. What if employer was paying 50% to 80% of the cost to employee? Are subsidies through the Exchange capable of of making up the difference? If employee income is close the top of income range eligible for subsidy (44K indiv or 94K for family of 4) I would doubt it.

Employers could look at changing the way they offer benefits - higher pay in lieu of health ins. I know that's what many want - that's just going to be a difficult proposition in a small window with so many pieces still unknown to employer and employee.
I think he was talking about small business tax credits, which were discussed a few pages back.

And you didn't remember that MA has this plan in place and has had it in place for years and most people in MA are happy with it?

Unsurprising. I mean even Romney wouldn't even own it and it was his plan.

I'm referring to the small business tax credits here. It has nothing to do with the exchanges or subsidies offered to employees.

ETA: Ash beat me to it =\

The small business tax credits are almost impossible to qualify for. If the average salary of all employees is over $50k they are not available and they phase out quickly for average salaries over $30k, which is almost every business. When employee income averages less than $30k, the employer probably has no group health plan in the first place.

You guys must be salivating. Just a few more days until the public discovers the true, secret awesomeness of Obamacare.

I misunderstood what you were asking. Tax credit for 2014 and forward is only for small businesses using the SHOP (exchange for small businesses).

Details can be found here:

Tax credits for small employers

I'll just say it's not simple to figure out.

Ive been through an implementation of this.

Its not that dramatic.

droopy: yea that's the site I was just looking at. They have a calculator of sorts on there if you click the link to the Form 8whatever towards the bottom.

That's the craziest thing. Most people will see nothing change. Literally nothing, because they are in a large group or on a government plan. What does Jim think will happen to those people?
09-24-2013 , 06:01 PM
So, yeah, Jim, you said that **** sarcastically, but I can't wait for Obamacare to get implemented. There will be glitches, there will be oversights, there will be errors. You'll hear about all of those.

But actual real live human beings will get affordable, quality health insurance, perhaps for the first time in their lives. Setting aside the political fallout, that's a good thing.

Poor minorities will get things, tho.

Is this the place where I can slam Senator cruz for trying to defund obamacare? Dude sounds like a hick with a tie on hahaahaha.

iLCD,

Tragic Death of the Republican party is the best thread for that, although there's some overlap.

Exactly. I think it might do some bad things on the cost side or access side over time and need some adjustments, but its not like on October 1st people are going to suddenly not be able to go to the doctor or have to write a big check or anything.

Most people who have problems on October 1st will be people who will be better off with the ACA.

That doesn't happen until January 1.

Fox News story, but this will take place all over the country for younger families when their existing plans are automatically changed over to the most comparable metal plan.

Which government program runs so smoothly that gives you so much confidence that Obamacare would be good for the nation?

Id like to see those plans compared apples-to-apples, but yes, I would have liked a bit more flexibility high deductible plans. Maybe that can be added smartly later if we ever move to improve the ACA.
