Obama didn't even fight for the public option, man, no ****ing way

You'd need 70 Democrats where the median D is like, Elizabeth Warren. That's a long way off.

If there were 70 Democrats in the Senate, health insurance companies would be making a lot more money super quick.

I was told in this thread that insurance companies fight to lower costs by negotiating for lower prices of doctor visits and medical procedures. This I was told when I said an individual could negotiate with doctors to find the best price.

Isn't single payer price fixing? It is illegal when tech companies do it. Illegal when airlines do it.

Yes I know, only those that are strongly in favor of ACA are good thinkers. Nobody with half a brain would be against such a bill.

Its entirely possible to be against the ACA and still exhibit logical thought and reading comprehension.

Man! Obfuscation and misinformation is rampant around this issue! My (conservative) friend to me last night that the pre-existing condition clause had been defunded by Obama himself! How could this happen!!!

To tie this in with the Ted Cruz thing, given Ted Cruz's base and apparently lack of interest in appealing outside the base, I think I might know Cruz's endgame here:

Claim victory. No matter what happens, say that he defunded Obamacare. Tell his base that's why the death panels haven't killed their ******ed children and grandmas. The economy: saved. Tyranny: averted.

How exactly would you defund the pre-existing condition bits?
09-24-2013 , 01:04 AM
Why don't democrats get out and spend some damn money putting out ads with actual facts about Obamacare? Are they just content to sit back and point a finger at the GOP for misleading the public?

I guess it's possible they are - I am so far buried in the Bible Belt that I would never see them if they existed.
09-24-2013 , 01:15 AM
They have tried a number of approaches. Some have succeeded and been put out, others not so much and have been blocked by the GOP, thinking the NFL stuff specifically here.

Some states have gone so far as to outlaw the navigators that will help direct people where to go and how to go about things.

Ask rara. He seems to have a good handle on this stuff.
09-24-2013 , 02:22 AM
Wait, what? Who's trying to take my pre-existing condition coverage away? **** that ****.
09-24-2013 , 02:24 AM
I love how censoring words is basically ****ing meaningless, since we can all fill in the mother ****ing blanks just fine in our heads.
09-24-2013 , 08:05 AM
Do not worry. This will cover every person that didn't have health care.

So rara, you'd support extending ACA subsidies to undocumented immigrants and permanent residents here for less than five years? Or do you want to fine people displaced by hurricanes because they dont have health insurance? Or do you want bigger fines for the typical person not having health insurance?

Ill give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you actually have a point...what is it?

Why are drug companies entitled to $100+ per month for life for every drug you take? Change the IP laws. Allow generics sooner.

I don't think legislation has been passed, but this is a clear indication of just how much of a ****ing clown Florida's governor is.

First he backed Obamacare.

Then the FL legislature refused to implement it.

Now he's calling the navigators into question based on "privacy concerns" (ie they collect social security numbers!) as a way to be against the law he was previously in favor of implementing less than a year ago.

Just a complete joke, and he'll probably win re-election because the GOP can't field a decent alternative and Dems stay home in droves during midterms (which happens to be when we elect our governors).

Are those individuals still going to be able to walk into an emergency room for coverage?

When this becomes law (I know it is already - it's just not fully implemented). There are going to be two groups. Those that didn't/couldn't get health care and like the law and those that had health care, they are going to be very unhappy with this.

I wish the repubs would stop fighting it, let the dems own it...they can't stop it now anyhow
