Florida has been court ordered to revise its system for restoring the voting rights of felons, and they have also been precluded from stripping felons of the right to vote permanently. They have until 04/26 to comply.

What do you do when a court orders you to hold elections when you’re pretty sure your party will lose? (Also, what kind of lowlife has to be ordered to hold elections?)

If you’re Inso hero Scott Walker, you call for a special legislative session to rewrite the law so you don’t have to:

Conservatives don't believe in rule of law, at least not per se. They'll use it as a weapon when convenient, but they don't actually believe in it. They believe in maintaining a particular social hierarchy above all. It's not dismantling democracy. It's saving the hierarchy. **** like this gives Inso0 a boner. It's not some sort of hypocrisy.

Isn't Georgia the state that erased all the data related to their House special election right after Price went to HHS?

These guys do great when there's no actual opposition and the hardest grilling they face is Chris Wallace on Fox Sunday. Make them prove up their case in court and they are literally ordered to pay the other side's legal fees.

Simplicitus implies Kobash did a poor job arguing a case. What he did was send letters denying new voter registrations because they didn't comply with a proof of citizenship law despite the law being enjoined. He then promised to send postcards to correct that and blew that off.

Fair point, but he also did a very poor job litigating the case.

In an unusual move, the Republican state official is representing his own office in a lawsuit challenging a Kansas requirement that residents prove they are U.S. citizens when they register to vote. Kobach and his legal team made a number of procedural missteps throughout the case and been reprimanded by U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson, a George W. Bush appointee, who is presiding over the trial.

The dispute Thursday was over the number of people who were on a list of “suspended” voters because their applications were incomplete. Kobach’s office initially provided the American Civil Liberties Union with that information in 2016, but at 10:45 the night before trial, the ACLU lawyers were given an updated list. Robinson didn’t allow Kobach to admit the updated list into evidence because she said it was unfair to spring it on the lawyers at the last minute.

But Kobach’s legal team tried to get the information into the record another way Thursday. While he was being questioned by one of the lawyers on Kobach’s team, the Kansas director of elections, Bryan Caskey, said he had recently done an updated analysis of the number of applicants whose voter registrations were considered incomplete and the number of those who had been removed from the “suspense” list for various reason.

Robinson, who had appeared to be patient for much of the trial, became visibly angry when Kobach’s team tried to introduce the evidence. When Kobach stood up and objected that the numbers were constantly changing and the court needed to be aware of the most recent information, Robinson said that the underlying data were always changing and that for the purposes of a fair trial, Kobach could not keep changing the numbers the court was reviewing.

Well maybe people don’t base their views on random interviews in the street and actually like look at things from a larger picture? Like this is not even up for debate and you and the interviewer both look like clowns except to people whose predetermined views you’re just reaffirming. Like why don’t you explain why they made the video and why you posted it?

what was the point of that video? Is he going to do a 100 part series to have his sample size be even slightly meaningful and not use one of the biggest cities in the world with an expansive transportation system and multiple DMVs?

One thing I like about this forum is that any number of regs will call out deplorables.

preki doesn't respond to anyone (see other posters above) but he thinks that posting this will stop people from noticing he can't form an argument when challenged
