The GOP war on voting The GOP war on voting

Hundreds of absentee ballots rejected in Atlanta, prompting legal challenge

Georgia is just openly suppressing votes this cycle, not even trying to hide it.

It's so depressing how many Kemp signs I see in civilized parts of the Atlanta area.

Also, those early voting lines will get shorter as election day gets closer. There are only one or two early voting locations in Cobb this week. More open each week this month. I may go for it the week before, as my wife will need to do it, anyway. I like voting on the actual day, though, and since I work at home, it's not a problem for me.

There are only 4 early voting sites in my entire county

On the plus side, you can vote at any of them

I'll be voting in person from now on after reading how many mailed ballots get tossed by these ass wholes

I agree with the first sentence completely. It makes me angry every single night on my way home from work.

I also like voting on actual election day in person so will be doing that.

Splinter posted an article today about how a bunch of elderly black folks were ordered off a buss that was supposed to take them to vote. It’s bad.

I live in LA (Redondo Beach) - I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to vote and that was just in the last election. Every other time I just walk up to a bank of empty booths. Paper ink-stain ballots - no problem. Amazing how easy it is when your state/county/city actually want people to vote.

It caught me off guard the first time as my plan was to read up on the issues while I was waiting in line.

Yeah, my polling place is never busy. In and out. It's early voting that has the lines. I voted early in the Ossoff election and the line was around the building.

This is a dry run for 2020 and elections thereafter. This is why Trump will win for as long as he wants

Dodge City, KS now has zero (0) polling places

Are the long queues normal for US elections?

I'm in the UK. I've always been able to walk straight in and cast a vote in under two minutes.
10-20-2018 , 07:16 AM
They seem to be normal in areas where the voters are mainly poor, black, likely to vote for someone that isn't Republican, or any mix of the above.
10-20-2018 , 01:14 PM
This is what game over looks like to the surprise of no one who has been paying attention. They've been blatantly rigging **** for at least two decades now and what we have to show for it is, like, Al Gore conceding. Imagine being trapped in the bottom of a boiling pot by a frog doing The West Wing catalog binge on Netflix.

Lines for early voting are common, not sure why. Never had to wait more than 5-10 min on election day, myself.

Meanwhile in Washington--small potatoes compared to a lot of this stuff, but still:

Conservative political group mailer called “blatant voter suppression” by Democratic leaders

Quote:
The campaign mailers recently sent out in at least two Washington's state legislative districts look like a pitch to Democratic voters to elect a progressive candidate. But they come from a conservative political action committee, and ask voters to write-in alternative candidates in close races that will help determine the margins of power in Olympia.
At least we have postage-paid mail in voting (no BS polling place shenanigans) and paper ballots (no easily hackable electronic machines with no paper trails).

This guy in Georgia is showing us what the end game looks like. This guy isn’t going to stop unless it’s at the barrel of a gun.

It was going to be very hard to vote for the Democratic Secretary of State candidate in Arkansas... The GOP left her off the ballot.

Arkansas really taking it to the next level here. But I'm sure there will be no repercussions.

(Honest mistake though, obviously. Amazing how all those honest mistakes always hurt Dems and help the GOP. What a lucky break for the honestly mistaken GOP!)

bold, but effective. Obviously they are going to let all the ballots already cast stand which would never happen if it was the other way around.

I wonder what processes are in place to try to prevent this kind of thing from happening. Who was responsible for printing the ballots? Is anyone supposed to be double checking these ballots before they go live? Seems like there should be a non-partisan / bi-partisan committee involved. These kinds of articles make me more frustrated with the information they don't include than with the little bit they do.

To be fair if everyone in Georgia was allowed to vote it would be impossible for kemp to win so it makes sense.

Study shows, unsurprisingly, that turnout is higher in states that make it easier to vote

I wonder if the states at the bottom of the list make it intentionally hard to vote? HMMMMMM

This ****ing guy. Just signed up to canvass on Saturday.

Come to my neighborhood. There has been zero canvassing. I had Ossoff people come three, four times.

I have a bad feeling about this election, from Governor on down.

It's really impressive from outside point of view. Like how to manage **** up something as simple as ****ing voting.

And if it is done intentionally, there seems to be no repercussion.
