I've never been a big assange fan but turned solid negative with 60 minutes piece a few years ago. If I cared I'd watch the Potrias (?spelling) documentary from a few years ago which apparently wanted to paint him in a favorable light but, um, did not end up that way.

From what I know Snowden got kind of screwed but was dumb and should do some time. The leaker who actually got screwed, to my knowledge, is Reality Winner. Again, though, assange is a freak and a very wierd dude with evil beliefs who helped to elect Trump to own the libs and I hope he gets cancer.

I think Snowden leaked too much, and the surveillance state can't even catch Trump and his idiot slappies. I like knowing when MBS is murdering people and Putin is meddling. To my knowledge nothing Snowden leaked showed illegal US activity. He's just a libertarian-ish bro. And he was too stupid to not get caught and end up as a propaganda poodle for Putin. That said, I suspect he has done less than Putin would want. Again, Afaik, reality Winner is the only one who leaked important specific information in order to inform the American people.

There's a difference between publishing material hidden from the world that is in the public interest and influencing an election for nefarious reasons.

Whether he's connected to Putin or if they coincidentally have the same goal will never be known. But pinning him as some kind of martyr being oppressed by the man for spilling information is complete bull****. He has continually acted I'm his own self-interest and is unworthy of such a defense.

All that really needs to be said about this thread is that there is a world of difference between Wikileaks in theory - i.e. a pro-transparency organization trying to hold governments to account - and Wikileaks in practice, which ever since Assange ended up in the embassy, has been essentially doing whatever will be personally best for Assange. This turned out to be becoming an agent of the Kremlin and leaking unedifying emails from Clinton's campaign manager in a successful attempt to get a fascist-lite imbecile elected President of the United States.
