Weird thing is Civil Rights was the part of the Democratic platform that got them drummed out of the south entirely. It wasn't the labor stuff! It wasn't the welfare stuff! It WAS being for Civil Rights!

Dems donors should be putting this kid's head in a vise asking for their money back

I dont understand why they are not pounding the **** out of training against automation. "Hey, you, coal guy who's job is 100% going away in the next four years. Come vote for the democrats. We will give you free training on how to run all those machines that are going to replace you, so that you will still have a job to go to once you are replaced."

I don't disagree, but it was a (presumably) private call conceding an election. What he actually says there doesn't really matter. But there are many other scenarios in which your suggestion is better than what Dems currently do.

Too sophisticated. People are morons.

Messaging needs to be more simple.

Also it really sends a mixed message when you say **** like "we need to work across the aisle" then your opponent spends the whole campaign bragging about how she pushed voter ID through in Georgia and talking about how gay people don't deserve to have real families. Like what the ****. In what universe do those things make sense together?

Isn't everyone who thinks Trump sucks and is enthusiastic already voting for him tho? Seems like that was the calculation he made.

If he had a pathway to victory, it was speaking about healthcare more. Healthcare is where the public is more in line with the Dems.
06-20-2017 , 11:08 PM
Yes talk about health care more. This is the most unpopular piece of major legislation in decades. Why was he not hammering on it every single day. Get on Chris Hayes and hammer away at that **** a couple of nights a week. For god's sake I know he could get the air time if he tried.

The Republicans are doing their thing to the best of their ability (which is really only restricted by their own incompetence). There has been literally no restraint because of future general election chances (mostly because the people you're talking about know they'll get ****ed in the primary if they don't act this way - and thats the bigger risk for them).
Well, perhaps restraint they would have shown if Ossoff had won... Or backbone on the Russia investigation.

Now, I expect full throated support of Trump and an even stronger effort to ram through Trumpcare.

Whats more simple than "You will lose job, I will help you get new job, for free."
06-20-2017 , 11:12 PM
Wait, I just looked at the results. She beat him by 5 ****ing points?

What a godawful ****show. **** everything.
06-20-2017 , 11:12 PM
How are you gonna work across the aisle with people that just STOLE a Supreme Court seat from you, breaking with centuries of tradition and destroying one of our most sacred democratic institutions in the process?

Because "You will not lose job, I will fight for your current job" beats it, even if it's a lie.

Healthcare is a better platform to fight on, since Dems are fighting for the people and Reps are fighting against the people.

"You won't lose your job".
06-20-2017 , 11:17 PM
So... just lie to everyone then?

They are going to lose their jobs. Its inevitable.

I dont get it man, wouldn't people appreciate being told the ****ing truth? I know I would, especially if that person says "And i'm going to help you get past it."
06-20-2017 , 11:19 PM
However, this is not the time to give up on things. Given the numbers in these races tonight and all the races since November 2016, Democrats could be in a very powerful position in 2018. We need to get started now. Start helping your friends register to vote, get involved with some Democratic candidates, donate a bit if you don't have time, just do whatever you can. Spread good real information and call out false misinformation when you get a chance. This is not over.

People don't like being told the truth if it's not something they can readily accept. It's much easier to win someone over with a comforting lie than a hard truth.
06-20-2017 , 11:23 PM
Absolutely we should be talking about automation and what we should do about it. But that requires two things that most Democratic candidates don't currently have:

Imagination
Willingness to take risks

At some point guys if you keep thinking "these candidates suck" you have to start asking yourself...maybe you should run for office. I'm serious. Everything is at stake here.

If you are running for a house seat and promising federal funding for everybody who loses their jobs to get free "training" for a new job you are also lying.

While I agree with you here, there are too many stupid people who do not. Gotta message to all. Can either lie (which I do not support) or pick a better platform where you are right and they are wrong AND your message is a simple winning one. Like healthcare: "I will fight for you" vs "They want to kill you".
