What's more, this sends a message that all of those Republicans in the R+6 or better range are safe, which allows them to govern with even more impunity than they have been.
Ds are dog to flip the house, or at best a flip. I agree.

We are headed towards 60+ red senate seats, a republican house with Trump as president. If you are single, with the economy still running well, now is a great time to consider to gtfo of here.

LOL at Hannity on the big screen at the Handel headquarters.
06-20-2017 , 10:09 PM
I honestly think Dems should focus on securing blue districts and pour their money and time into purple areas this trying to flip things in Georgia and Arizona is silliness ime
06-20-2017 , 10:10 PM
Yeah there are R+ seats we can fight but they are rural and poor and full of nonvoters, not high engagement Drudge reading Hannity watchers.

According to the Cook Partisan Voting index, The Georgia-6 district is 277th (with the most Democratic district being #1 and the most Republican district being #435).

So, this district is far from a Democratic target in a typical election and certainly not necessary to win a House majority.

I don't really get this line of thinking. Where's the restraint they're showing?

The Republicans are doing their thing to the best of their ability (which is really only restricted by their own incompetence). There has been literally no restraint because of future general election chances (mostly because the people you're talking about know they'll get ****ed in the primary if they don't act this way - and thats the bigger risk for them).

This is right, but prob more accurate in this case to say WSJ editorial readers, as opposed to Drudge.

i'm really not a hard core cynic democrats suck at everything person but if its true that ossof stopped running ads against trumpcare a few weeks ago (or failed to run them in the first place, i can't remember...some tweet from a verified maybe its wrong) then that seems so damn dumb even in this district. pretty disappointing night.hopefully it shows that the "win the people of Greenwich, CT" strategy is never ever gonna work for dems. time to go to work

i mean yeah it was a R district but this guy was a "i have zero interest in raising taxes on the most wealthy people" (an actual quote btw)" and a zomg government waste guy. kind of a clown who's whole platform was like uh trump sucks vote for me respectability politics hurp durp

He didn't even go the "Trump sucks" route. He rarely talked about Trump. He would've done better if he did.
06-20-2017 , 10:37 PM
It wouldn't hurt the Democratic Party to occasionally, you know, mention jobs and the economy.

edit- i can see how how i framed the last post was misleading and uncharitable but the point stands that i'm not really sure how anyone can consider themselves a democrat who has no interest in raising taxes on the wealthy

Dumbocrats

Anyone who likes the message "I have no interest in raising taxes on the most wealthy people" prefers the message "I'm going to cut taxes!"

Where are these purple districts/states they can flip? Giving up on Arizona in the Senate next year means a 0% chance of gaining more than one seat.

GA-06 is R+9, she's up by five. If all of the R+4 and safer are staying red, the Democrats can only target about 30 seats. They need to pick up 24 to win the House. If they don't win the House, the Republicans and Trump will be essentially unchecked all the way til 2020.

Plus, they have another year and change to attack voting rights and make them even safer.

Jesus ****ing Christ.

Am I completely off-base in thinking that a platform that consists of only:
1) Medicare for all
2) Significantly increased taxes on seven figure earners

is significantly above the median messaging for Democratic candidates these days?

Yep this a million times. Dems need to run on IDEAS. If you concede that government is bad and taxes should be low who is going to vote for Just Like a Republican But Nicer? It's like Dems admit that their ideas are wrong but ask for a pity vote out of ****ing principle.
06-20-2017 , 10:49 PM
People aren't ****ing stupid even if you sell yourself as the small government Democrat they know what will happen if the national Dems get in power for ****'s sake sell the ****ing product, win or lose, at least you tried.
06-20-2017 , 10:52 PM

Also Dems need to cut this civility **** out. Your conduct needs to match your rhetoric. If you want to talk about the AHCA literally killing people, which it will, you also need to act like the people trying to pass the AHCA are killers.
06-20-2017 , 10:52 PM
Well the truth a lot of Democratic candidates/Congresspeople DON'T care about labor rights, universal health care, breaking up the monopolies, and these other important issues for the people. They believe in Civil Rights (TM) and that's pretty much their platform. You can vote for the Republican with conservative economic agenda who doesn't believe in Civil Rights, or the Democrat with a conservative economic agenda who does believe in Civil Rights. Doesn't give much reason for people to come out en masse and vote for a Dem.

Man just listened to this Ossof clown do his final farewell. What a donk. No oneder he lost. Sheesh milk toast.
