The General Question About Reversing The The Voter's Choice The General Question About Reversing The The Voter's Choice

Its probably about time that you guys start thinking about this question that most of you undoubtedly have mixed emotions about.

To my knowledge the Roy Moore situation is different than any of the other cases where Congressmen were considering expelling one of their own. Because in all of those other cases the details of his misdeeds were not fully known to the voters. But in this case they are talking about throwing him out even if no new evidence arises. In other words they are talking about expelling him based only on things that the voters are (supposedly) evaluating. I personally have no problem with that since I have a very low opinion of the average voter. But I suspect it would be a tougher call for many of you.

People have knowingly elected sexual deviants to political office in the past.

Grover Cleveland raped a woman and then had her committed to a mental institution and he was elected to two non-consecutive terms.

i expect the special election voters of alabama to vote roy moore in, and for the republican-controlled congress to not expel him.

This would bother me a lot if they were expelling a progressive, but since they would be expelling a right wing clown it wouldn't bother me at all.

I think it is fine for the Senate to develop its own standards of behavior and stick to them, even if the voters knowingly elect someone who does not meet them.
