Cheers, yeah makes no sense to risk an expensive loss and then not to actually legislate a win.

Joh Bjelke-Petersen will be turning in his grave.

Oh God. El Clasico is going to be awesome to watch this year.

Might be like Maksimir Stadium in 1990.

The High Court in Australia handed down its verdict on the cases of MPs with dual citizenship. The Deputy Prime Minister got thrown out of his seat. There will need to be a by-election there. The government has a huge majority there and presumably the Deputy PM will just renounce citizenship and run again.
10-27-2017 , 09:50 PM
i don't see what the bfd about having dual citizenship even is. is it easier to be a foreign secret agent sent to destroy your society if you're a citizen of.. what was the other country?
10-27-2017 , 09:59 PM
Italy, wasn't it?
10-28-2017 , 07:24 AM
Few different ones. New Zealand, the UK, Italy, Canada. NZ in the case of the deputy PM.

The idea is that if you're a citizen of another country, you have incentives to work for their interests. It's pretty archaic. I mean, the prohibition against people who were not born in the US becoming President is along much the same lines.
10-29-2017 , 06:23 AM
It made sense at the time. Plenty of British-born loyalists resided in the US and we also owed France a ****load of money.

I trust you've been paying them back in processed cheese ever since.

Uluru (Ayers Rock) climbing ban

Climbing on Australia's iconic Uluru landmark will be banned from October 2019, local authorities have confirmed.

The board of the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park voted unanimously to end the climb over indigenous sensitivities.

The giant red monolith in the Northern Territory is a sacred site for Aboriginal Australians.

Traditional owners of the region have long asked visitors not to climb Uluru.

Yemen with about 800000 cases of cholera and facing the threat of famine.

The AEC released what will be very close to the final number of votes received in the postal survey. Turnout is a very respectable 78.5%. High turnout makes anything other than a Yes result almost impossible. I drove past a wedding planning shop when I went to get lunch earlier and they had a "Start planning now for same sex weddings" sign out.

Great news that Chris.

900000 cases of cholera in Yemen

UN says 7000000 on the brink of famine.

Queensland: Australia's Florida

The same sex marriage vote result is due to be released Wednesday 10AM AEST, which is Tuesday 6PM US EST. It's going to be Yes, just waiting on the percentage. A bill will then need to be passed in Parliament. A survey of MPs by the ABC found that the bill will get at least 70% support in both Houses.

Results are in. 61.6% Yes, 38.4% No.

With NSW having a lower yes vote than QLD, lol westies
11-14-2017 , 09:28 PM
For non Australians, westies are people from the (rough, generally poor) western suburbs of Sydney. Here is one in its natural habitat:
