In a related story to the NY Post dead monkey cartoon that resulted in so much controversy, the Washington Post went off the PC deep end. The Post ran a column talking about a New York Times story relating to how men and women reacted sexually to various images.

In a surprise, women became aroused at the site of monkeys mating. The Wash. Post printed a small cartoon depicting a man, woman, and an ape. After all, that's what this column was about. However, since an ape was depicted, the Post ran an apology for this blatant racial insensitivity:
"The headline, illustration and text of 'Below the Beltway,' a column in The Washington Post Magazine today, may cause offense to readers. The magazine was printed before a widely publicized incident last week in which a chimpanzee attacked and badly mauled a woman in Stamford, Conn. In addition, the image and text inadvertently may conjure racial stereotypes that The Post does not countenance. We regret the lapse"
I guess we have reached the point where a cartoon of an ape connected to a story relating to apes is no longer acceptable. I guess any image of an ape is a racial slur.
