Horrifying story tonight on Australia's flagship investigative journalism TV show, Four Corners. It alleges Border Force officials have refused entry to Australia for Saudi women who they suspect are going to claim asylum, also that officers have been asking Saudi women who are alone why they aren't travelling with male guardians. This is the kind of thing that happens to women who get turned back:

People with power suck. That's why flattening power structures and redistributing power (whether in the form of wealth or any other power signifier) is the only way to improve life. Unfortunately powerful people are generally against flattening power structures for some reason so we end up having to have revolutions every now and then and chopping their heads off. I think we're probably due.

I've been to something in the neighbourhood of 40 countries and Manila is hands down the worst major city I have been to. "Dystopic" would not be too strong a word.
