I'm sure the Japanese occupation was just as important if not more. But that and the other points you mention all share one thing in common: they are not the responsibility of the United States. Which was the point I was originally making, that the United States and her media and citizens routinely ignore atrocities that the US commits and their disastrous effects on other countries.

Um, does that surprise anyone?

Also, while Hirohito (and his successors) lost political power after the war, they still retain a great deal of social influence.

A little internet research suggests that the Indians are worth about a billion dollars. Think I could raise that much on kickstarter in an effort to buy them and rename the team to the Cleveland They/Them/Theirs?

Never thought I'd feel sorry for Donald Trump.

A Minnesota sheriff says a dog named Donald Trump wasn’t shot and killed over a political rivalry, despite false claims circulating on social media that have spurred “violent threats” against some county residents.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office concluded the person who shot Donald Trump the dog Sunday was “legally protecting their livestock” on private property. The shooter has not been identified.

Not much knowledge of history. Is there a scoreboard somewhere? Who among us is the least ****ed up nation? Who has the least ****ed up past? Who most?
Depends how far you want to go back. I'd say that the Mongol Empire has the all-time record for war crimes.

Looks like Avenatti’s 15min are up.

Quote:
Michael Avenatti agreed Wednesday to relinquish financial control of his longtime law firm hours after a former partner filed papers accusing him of hiding millions of dollars from the court that oversaw its bankruptcy.
The celebrity lawyer and his firm, Eagan Avenatti, consented to the appointment of a receiver to take possession of its bank accounts, case files, computers and other assets.

Avenatti not going to go out like that.

Wow, bankruptcy, domestic assault and possible financial improprieties. He's running.

*sigh* well, I guess I have to root for ‘Natti for a little while longer. Kinda suspicious how he got his hands on this tape and why it’s been collecting dust for 20 years.

Easy explanation. He was looking for a certain pee tape and ended up with the wrong one.

A plausible timeline is:

1. R. Kelly rapes some poor kid who has video evidence of it.
2. Victim doesn't come forward for fear of not being believed.
3. Big expose of R. Kelly's crimes airs.
4. Victim decides to come forward and gets a lawyer to think about the civil suit.
5. Hires Avenatti because he was on TV a lot.

The other plausible part of this is the was a previous tape that got R Kelly charged but ultimately let off in court and the victim didn't want to go through that.

I logged on to AT&T this morning to pay my directv/internet bill and noticed that the TV portion of my bill had increased $7.64 over what it has been. I called them up to find out why and the guy looked into it. He said that it was a $5 increase in the TV service plus associated taxes and fees along with a small increase in the regional sports package (whatever the **** that is). So I asked if I got any additional channels for the increase or if it was just a straight cash grab. He put me on hold again. When he finally came back, he had a "promotional" offer for me where I get $30 off my bill for 12 months, plus 4 months of free Showtime.

I of course took it. Usually I have to threaten to cancel before they come up with offers, like last summer when my 24 month contract was up and they juiced my bill +$60 per month, they wound up giving me $55 off for 12 months that time. But I had threatened to cancel then, and did not this time. Maybe they're getting hypersensitive to cord cutters now and getting more aggressive with giving stuff away? idk

They don't care. It's just pacifying the small % of people who call up to complain about the naked cash grab.
