Seems like at least 4.

Looks like 3-4 bombs all in the same general location, could've been one guy planted all of them.

It sounds like the phones weren't shut off at all, but if they were I find it highly unlikely they did it before 911 calls went out seconds after the blasts. So, these heavy handed tactics (that didn't even happen) by an out of control government haven't cost any lives, yet.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of disaster, I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”

LirvA, during a terrorist attack they wouldnt even consider clearing rubble to save people trapped under it until there was a full sweep for any further explosives.

Edit, now might be a good time to start a new thread to discuss this policy rather than hijack this one. The name of the law that makes it legal to kill phone traffic in an emergency is mentioned in the article on the front page of theverge.com.

This is good advice. Take it plz in reference to the cell phone thing. We don't even know for sure that it happened (and we um... do know for sure there isn't really any rubble for people to be buried in- given what we do know it seems reasonably unlikely that there's people in need of emergency medical attention who are located such that they couldn't be easily found).

There were reports service was shut off, and a poster here described having a hard time getting service. Inquiring about cell phone service being shut off is not unfounded speculation, there's ample evidence to support inquiry.

I think it might be a good idea to remember that a great reason to have a cell phone is in case of emergencies. The government shutting down cell phone service, if that did in fact happen, is NOT a good thing. People need their cell phones while they're taking a **** ffs, when bombs are going off around you, you need a freakin cell phone.

That's all I have to say about the ****ing cell phones.

Splitting hairs here, but both Aurora and Sandy Hook could certainly be considered terrorist attacks, given the apparent motives of the attackers to...well...cause terror. I'd say this is more so in the case of Aurora. After all, he planted first responder bombs at his apartment, as well.

If the government realizes the bombs are being set off via cell phones, it is completely reasonable to shut down cell service until the area is cleared. We don't know if this happened or not yet, we do know they found at least 2 more bombs that did not go off.

No offense, and they aren't perfect, but I'm going to defer to the judgment of the trained first responders over your random musings.

Seems silly when we even have a huge domestic terrorist attack that happened in the last 20 years. Although it's possible it could be someone just bent on destruction. I wouldn't consider Columbine or Sandy Hook to be terrorist attacks, and it's always on the table that this was someone looking to just kill a lot of people for giggles or revenge or whatever.

What strikes me as odd is if someone wanted to inflict maximum carnage in an event like this, they went about it the dumbest possible way. Wait until the race is nearly over, then attack the most spread out section? Seems like when everyone is all gathered up at the start is a much better way to increase kill count and have a bigger impact. I don't mean to take away from the tragedy of this, but it could have been a *lot* worse. But then again, idiots who do this kind of stuff aren't exactly known for being the brightest bulbs.

Terrorism isn't just about trying to cause terror or fear. By definition there has to be a political goal/message also.

Video and pictures were terrible. Thoughts and prayers with those that were injured and with the families of those that died. Interested to hear who was behind it, and how they will be brought to justice.

It is clear noone ITT as any flippin idea who or how many are responsible for the attach today.

It is quite clear most ITT would prefer the perp. not be a foreigner, not be a religious nut job and be a white extremist.

I can only think of one person that fits that discription...
Spoiler:
Bill Ayers
