Life without parole would be a much worse punishment for a crime like this. His life would be hell inside.

The older brother sounds like he was just an *******, narcissist and violent guy. I supposed if the younger brother got away with this, that would've hardened him to the point where maybe he does do the brainwashing. But by all accounts he seemed like a sweet kid who never would've gotten pulled into this if not for the incredible pull of older sibling infatuation, probably combined with younger brother being a very weak and malleable personality.

Obviously I could be way off, just speculating.

I know this may sound weird, but I don't even have a problem with the kid being eligible for parole when he's 50 or something. I think it would actually be kind of a success story for him to renounce all this, and realize what he got sucked into, as opposed to us just killing him and moving on.

That picture of him climbing out of the boat, and one of him laying on the ground, I just see a scared 19-year-old kid. And I'm not usually much of a bleeding heart when it comes to this kind of stuff. There are plenty of 19-year-olds that I wouldn't mind locking up and throwing away the key. But this kid just doesn't seem like unsalvageable evil to me.

as someone from a super ford family, lol.

Kid knows how to make crude bombs. Has shown a willingness to use that knowledge and you would parole him when he was 50?
04-20-2013 , 11:57 AM
This kid played an integral part in killing three people and seriously injuring over a hundred others and we talkin 'bout rehab?

God, Wolf Blitzer is so dumb and the media coverage of this whole Miranda/Enemy Combatant thing is awful. Blitzer on CNN asking a former US Atty his opinion of treating Tsarnaev as an enemy combatant so that he can be held without Miranda and questioned without a lawyer. Former U.S. Atty correctly pointing out that makes no sense without actually calling Wolf an idiot. This just minutes after another CNN correspondant who has a JD from harvard told Wolf the same damn thing, that you don't need to mirandize someone to hold them, and you can question somebody without a lawyer without declaring them an enemy combatant.

Meanwhile both Fox and CNN keep quoting Lindsey Graham saying that these People need to be treated as enemy combatants so they can be questioned without Miranda. Lindsey Graham is a lawyer and knows better. Either his quote is being taken out of context and the media is manufacturing a controversy where there is none. or Lindsey Graham is manufacturing a controversy where there is none, or both.

Defense attorneys i work with often make fun of their clients stupidity to me. It is not always even an awful strategy in getting me to feel bad for them.

Not really. Lawyers don't really hate cops. It's just an act. We play golf together now. I also later worked as an advisor/investigator on cases in other jurisdictions. Still do.

yeah, this image appears a lot without the text anywhere. I won't think this is an official ford thing until you show it on a ford website.

Ford Motor Company: Jorge, it's not an ad. It's a thank you note. Besides, civilians can't buy Police Interceptors.

So any time a business wants to say thank you to anyone after a national tragedy they're not allowed because they only do it for profit?

Grunching but they did that under orders as to not appear suspicious. The older guy seemed to be more like the Times Square Bomber, who was more or less a normal guy then flipped a switch to become a religious a**hole to everyone in his late 20s to and then tried to do something big to get recognition.

you are 100% not stupid enough to think they sat around said "what's the best way for us to say thank you?" and this is what they came up with

Lindsay Graham was just live via phone on FoxNews right now, and it sounds like the main gist of his argument is the whole "homeland is a battlefield" schtick where wants him to be considered an enemy combatant and interrogated before he has a right to counsel. (and edit, I'm not sure that it's settled law at all that this is what would happen)Whether he brought Miranda rights into that just to blur the lines for a ******ed SC constituency or because he doesn't understand it himself, who knows. But he was fear-mongering hard about how we don't want future terrorists to see a 2-year trial on TV.

[Update 11:33 a.m. ET] Dzhokar Tsarnaev was on the campus of University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth every day after the attack until until late Thursday, a university official told CNN. Tsarnaev attended classes as well as parties in the dorms during that period.

Merica! Where you can get your legs blown off in a terrorist bombing and then have to resort to begging to pay the $300,000 hospital bill.

I personally think it's great he's reaching out for private charity. I don't mean to say I think it's great he can't afford health care, obviously that is terrible. But he's going to get a lot of money from a ton of people. People will absolutely donate to help him. I actually really want to, and probably will when I get my summer financial aid. I could maybe give him a hundred bucks. Definitely twenty. Everyone reading this that can afford a contribution should send him some money imo. It's so great that he's alive, and he helped ID the suspects.

Would I care if congress passed a relief fund for him to take care of his bills? ****, the U.S. burns so much money on militarism, I wouldn't give a damn if congress did that. Hell, if I was in congress, I'd vote for it.
