Question for any of the 79 lawyers in this forum. Am I correct on the Tyson rape charges - that two were basically for sodomy and could technically be applied to non-rape cases in Indiana at the time? https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/s...postcount=3621

Or is it some kind of aggravated sodomy? Google is frustrating.

Jim Mattis pulled some strings and got 46-year-old former Trump chief of staff Rinse Peemus into the Navy reserve. Why not

lol @ sodomy laws on the books in the 90's. **** me, I'm glad I don't live in Indiana anymore. I mean, I'm still in ****ing Ohio, but at least I'm not in Indiana.

A lot of states still had them until SCOTUS ruled them invalid or whatever.

Who wants to be the state senator championing the "make butt sex legal" bill?
12-16-2018 , 01:57 AM
If you need an example of how our laws have become unmoored from public opinion and our shared values, "blowjobs should be illegal" is a great starting point. Like, there's no way we'd have sodomy laws on the books if USA #1 was anything like a functioning democracy.
12-16-2018 , 01:58 AM
It's not like any of them would be added now. It's just that no one wants to be the champion of removing them. So SCOTUS stepped in (I think).

Has "misteltoe = sexual assault" become a Christmas strawman for the right like Baby it's Cold Outside yet?

If not I predict next year one liberal somewhere in the world says something about mistletoe and right wing media turns it into a 2 month cacophony. And then the mistletoe "debate" happens every Christmas for the next decade.

Laws that the Supreme Court invalidates don't disappear, they have to be repealed, and often they are not, particularly in other states. They are just no longer enforced. Sometimes you hear about states repealing stupid laws that haven't been enforced for a long time but that would not have been easy to repeal at an earlier time.

Beautiful. French protesters spray liquefied horse manure on a government building.

And today in "things the kids younger than goofyballer are following", this happened:

As Cardi B performs as first woman headliner ever at Rolling Loud festival, organizers allow her (ex-?) husband, rapper Offset, to upstage her by coming on stage and apologize for cheating on her and beg her to take him back

And on top of this, the festival thought this was a good idea:

(she shut his ass down, sent him off the stage, and killed it in her performance)

yeah that **** was viral on my twitter feed.. what a terrible ****ing thing to do.

that's textbook entitled harassment that men who hate #metoo think there is nothing wrong with.

narcissists/****ty people force these scenes in public to further harass the female.

Is anybody else incredibly annoyed at how The Spruce (formerly About.com) has recently started crushing certain search categories by blatantly stealing and repackaging other peoples' content?

It's nice that regardless of however much power and money Trump and Miller get the constant bitterness and shame over their hair-loss prevents them from enjoying anything. It's almost like an Aesop's Fable or a Twilight Zone.

Neocons already lost the war against Trumpism a long time ago, not sure why we're supposed to week for these impotent ****s losing their magazine when they already proved worthless at standing up to fascism.

Fox was chum for the rubes; the Weekly Standard was chum for Ivy League rubes. Fox pushed mindless belligerence, conspiracism and a deep hatred for reality; the Weekly Standard did the same thing, but*with less cleavage and more quotes from Cicero.

Yes, in this media climate it’s distressing to see any journalistic institution collapse, even ones that got Iraq completely wrong. Fortunately, the Weekly Standard was not a journalistic institution. To understand this, look at this list of all the huge stories broken by its intrepid reporters:

Stephen Miller is 33 years old.

Let me start with: I hate Ryan Zinke.

Stories I've seen about his departure are all about how he doesn't want to face the overwhelming pressure of the investigations into his conduct as Interior Secretary so he's out of there. Then there are comments from Dems about how he was incredibly crooked and basically "good riddance." What the ****? You can go in there and grift and then when the heat turns up you just resign and it's all good? I haven't seen anything about how he'll be pursued for all of the **** he's done in office. No. No, I do not accept this.
