Heh, guys, just no.
There are literally zero poor people who live on or near the Milwaukee streetcar path. It's just a classic waste of taxpayer dollars. "Obama gave us $47 million to spend on light rail. Use it or lose it. Most ******ed idea wins."
It might be used by drunk college kids while bar-hopping, but they could've just used the buses.
Scott Walker shot down the commuter light rail proposal, which was equally ******ed but 25x more expensive. This is just a way for Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett to build a legacy to himself in the form of a streetcar that nobody wanted and nobody will use.
The thing goes in a 2 mile circle downtown, ****s up traffic, ****s up existing bus routes, and eliminates what little street parking was available for a number of businesses on the route.
It has zero redeeming qualities. Our local government just simply ****ed up because they couldn't imagine letting $47 million federal dollars go to waste. You should all be just as upset as I am.
