That graffiti is 2 blocks from my apartment. It was spraypainted on a monument to Robert E Lee that has been getting vandalized like that for some time now. Hardly anyone gives a **** and there have been many peaceful protests at that location over the last few months.

A few windows got broken nearby on election night, but were talking about a handful of idiots lashing out here not some deep, brewing race war.

It's a weird feeling to realize fly is right isn't it jman? I started lurking politics 07/08 (original account lost in the lol security debacle of 12) and around 2011 I was shocked, while whinging about Afghan refugees to a friend. He said "If I lived in a country like that I'd like to think I'd get out with my family any way I could too." That was the key (for me). Fly is right! It all made sense suddenly!
Anyway, my point is just, you aren't the only one to be hit by Fly. He seems a prick. But damn! He"s right! It isn't an easy feeling at first, but you'll be fine. Work through it. Good luck and stay sane!

What really bothers me about the BLM freak out is they never said only black lives matter yet that is how it was spun by its detractors. It is pretty darn obvious that black lives are far, far more likely to see a negative experience than whites are from the police. And by negative e experience I mean a bullet finding them while either unarmed or posing no imminent threat to police. Nobody can possibly argue that white people are pulled over for being in the wrong neighborhood. The movement is simply "we are people too" that sure sounds radical now doesn't it?

If Black people as a group had everything advantage in our society that whites have their experiences would be indistinguishable from anyone else's that unfortunately is not the case. So they are left to explain why they can not live up to par in a white dominated society. Pretty simple really. Don't understand why people just don't get it. I guess they can't empathise.

It's not a great example though because North Vietnamese were commies and I assume kind of Godless. The South Vietnamese peasants were Buddhists, but the elites on our side were largely Catholics.
