But they could still do all this without Trump and under a president Pence. In fact, couldn't a case be made that they could facilitate their agenda easier by disposing of Trump now? Maybe not and they still need him as a distraction. I honestly don't know any more. I thought the Republicans didn't like the idea of a president Trump and were dragged kicking and screaming to get behind him after the primaries. I don't understand why they are all so keen to stand behind and back this mealy lying piece of **** now.
I keep saying this, but GOP obviously prefers Trump over Pence because the money and positions of oligarchness that Trump has been promising GOP is much more than Pence could deliver with policy alone.

Your first paragraph demonstrates the kind of environment that Trump's sensationalism creates. It's always there, ripe and ready to rip off.

Comey lied under oath, Lynch is in trouble, the president wasn't under investigation. Whole thing was a waste of time thanks to fake news. Now back to tax returns.

Nothing Comey said today leads me to believe they'll be willing to do that. If anything, they tried to skewer his testimony that I thought was surprising even for Republicans.
lol this guy claims not to be a Trump voter

dagger's confused with Jeff Sessions.

What a huge coincidence that the parts of Comey's testimony Trump and Co. disagree with are the exact same parts that make Trump look bad!

And it happens the same way with all his other opponents too. UNBELIEVABLE COINCIDENCE!

WaPo has some national review slappy writing opinion pieces about how Trump is simply too stupid to commit obstruction of justice

https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...83b_story.html

sure mirrors what paul ryan was saying. Wonder if that was in the RNC talking points?

Yep. So naive that he criticized Hillary over her FBI investigation and obstruction for MONTHS, and then didn't obstruct once like they claim, but many many times.

The big story on Fox is how Loretta Lynch pressured the FBI to downplay the Hillary investigation.

Unreal.

I mean, that was a pretty shocking revelation and makes the obama administration look pretty bad, but nothing like what's going on in trumptown

"Trump is dumb and a liar, therefore blameless" is a strong defense.
06-08-2017 , 07:10 PM
Am I reading right that the new line is "Trump is so stupid he didn't know he was violating laws and should not be held accountable."?
06-08-2017 , 07:11 PM
i wonder if comey can sue marc kasowitz or donald trump for slander for claiming he committed perjury today. and then demand the "tapes" to be unsealed in court officially lol

Yes

yeah i guess. i imagined a situation where a jamacian guy is sitting in a cab outside trump tower smoking a huge joint, and nypd taps on his window, if he can argue that he's used to a different way of doing things and he didn't fully realize that the criminal law codes of this particular region are such and such a way and therefore just lay off ok dudes?

It's funny because John Cornyn tried to make the case in the hearing that Trump firing Comey wouldn't take the heat off him, and therefore Trump could not possibly be dumb enough to fire Comey in order to - how shall I put this - relieve great pressure.

So the GOP is simultaneously using the defense that Trump is too dumb to be held accountable and too smart to have done anything wrong.

More coincidences. He's the perfect amount of dumb and smart in exactly the right situations every time.

Comey confirmed that they either have Sessions with Kislyak at the Mayflower Hotel, or something else on Sessions with Russia.

He also showed us we're pretty much only looking at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to evidence they have and we don't.

Because the voters didn't vote for Pence. Pence is a lukewarm piss sandwich that no one likes. Right now, the risk is too high to piss off the Trumpkins.

While these guys are spineless, they do pay attention to history. They are well aware of what happened to Ford in 1976. That's why they are playing the long game and trying to run the clock out.

Trump IS losing support. He just is. His ratings are sub 40 now. Just because someone like Ryan or McConnell say they have full support doesn't make it so. These guys would give a poor man drowning a glass of water to save a penny in a tax cut. You really think they falling on the sword for an idiot like Trump? Right now, they just trying to weather the storm.

It's all "he said, he is an insane liar who speaks in stream of consciousness" followed by defenders of the crazy lying guy blaming everyone around the liar for believing him.
