Comey fired Comey fired

Loooooooollll my god people pay attention.

These asshat Republicans are playing hopeful Democrats like fiddles. Oh yes, how brave and principled to say you are TROUBLED by literally the worst President in my lifetime doing abhorrent **** on a daily basis. They know you guys will fall for it! Get their face on the TEEVEE as the REASONABLE REPUBLICAN, then do absolutely dick to restrain or facilitate accountability from Trump. Vote for everything the Republicans dream up, including literally killing millions of people, then go home and Tea Party it up for primary season so you don't get Cantor'd.

How do you people fall for this ****?

The McCains, Flakes, and Amashs of the GOP have mastered the game it seems: pleas to make it sound like they share norms about good governance only to ultimately kowtow to Trump. The media and some liberals hold them up as paragons of a bipartisan norm the politicians ultimately don't respect save for lip service, but they can go back home and to their districts and assure their Trumpkin voters and big donors that they played ball and delivered when it counted. I don't think there's many reasons to feel good about their empty rhetoric anymore.

I'm not holding my breath waiting for any Republican to do anything. But Republicans "expressing concern" is valuable--even if they later fall in line. It's more evidence to persuade moderates and non-voters. And it pisses off Trump and the GOP base, increasing the friction.

It's certainly better than all Republicans falling in line with Trump immediately.

The newspaper where I live didn't run a single story on the Comey firing on the front page. They are treating it like a total non-event.

I don't even know if I believe this.

If the Republicans talk matched up with their actions it would be a lot easier to get the lazy/ignorant people to understand what is happening.

JFC the only thing that will stop the endless parade of bull**** is running good candidates and winning. Democrats are apparently incapable of either.

Clearly Comey is an unprofesional politically motivated guy who should be fired, but both the Trump and Clinton people are pathetic hypocrites.

"President does have that authority. So I respect that."

Thats not knee bending. That's wtf in Washington.

I agree there's no value in rhetoric and that these lizards have no principles. They do have interests, though, which is a cause for some hope. The Trump admin is a total disaster that has accomplished almost nothing for the GOP and will continue to accomplish nothing. It's given Paul Ryan the chance to play Model UN on the big stage and have debates and votes about bills to take benefits away from poor people and cut taxes on the rich, but those bills aren't going anywhere. And then in two years everyone's going to get fired. Trump can't even handle his coverups with any finesse. Maybe it never happens, but at some point I hope a critical mass of the GOP decides they need to get rid of Trump, eat some short-term pain, and move forward with Pence. Maybe if Ossoff wins the runoff it will be a wake-up call for them.

Can't believe that no one realizes that Trump did not fire Comey because of his handling of Clinton nor because of Russia. He fired him because he said that it made him nauseous to think he might have helped Trump win the election.

Santorum is a political commentator for CNN? You've gotta be kidding me...commenting on Comey firing right now
05-10-2017 , 09:17 AM
He is, and Bill Maher lets him come on Real Time all the time as well.

Coining new acronyms for "CNN" has been the acme of oldster Republican humor since 1992. I remember when it was the Clinton News Network.

The issue is irrelevant. You guys blindly take the side opposite of Trump regardless of the matter. Keep telling that to yourself though. I'm sure it gives you some semblance of sanity.

The Washington Free Beacon describes the scene:

Stephen Colbert’s “Late Show” audience initially cheered loudly on Tuesday at the announcement that President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey minutes earlier, visibly vexing the comedian.

Presumably, the left-leaning audience thought this was positive news ever since Comey angered Democrats with his late-October letter to Congress announcing the discovery of emails related to Hillary Clinton’s email scandal. Clinton herself has cast blame on Comey for costing her the election.

Sure. What these events signal is that if you are outside of the Ted Cruz coward/True Believer bubble and not the kind of guy to go down with the Trump Titanic, there are still people signaling alternatives such that if political pressure mounts, they will flip.

But that's about it: that a certain amount of political gravity will have to build to end Trump's charade of promising lots of things and delivering nothing but embarrassments, and none of these guys are going to be the political forces that build that political leverage against Trump. They're signaling that they'll hop on the bandwagon when it's convenient.

So at best, we can hope they'll hop on the first ride out of town once the fire appears out of control and all the buildings are going to burn down, but they're not going to help light the matches or bring any kindling.

To me there's not much to be hopeful about there, and I have always assumed that when and if reality arrives and Trump so plainly fails/is indicted/whatever such that he becomes politically toxic, tons of Republicans are going to emerge from the ashes like they were heroic bombthrowers and arsonists and defended the Republic with their heroic tweets expressing trouble by the timing and reasoning of Director Comey’s termination.

At least the Republicans of a bygone era got all the initial component letters correct. These idiots can't even do that.

The Trump admin is accomplishing nothing on the legislative front, but it is having great success with executive orders that matter a great deal to the GOP donor class. There is real damage being done that is going to be very difficult to undo.
