Like, the steps they took involved them identifying a guy named Jerome as someone who once owned the car and decided a guy named Joel with the same last name was the driver despite living in the wrong state and also not being named Jerome. How stupid are these people?

Seriously the Joel guy isn't a public figure and literally does not have the same name as the guy some free VIN search identified as the registered owner(Jerome ALSO lives in Michigan, he's probably the original buyer), Gateway Pundit and other right wing media ran with him as a ****ing murderer, that's 100% actionable. I'm not putting his full name in this post because the poor guy's Google results are already ****ed.

They have identified the current owner but are now sharing a mugshot of a clearly different guy with the same name. Baby steps.

This is one of those things where none of them being self-sufficient hurts them, they've never bought a car, they don't know you're allowed to drive a car that isn't registered to you, and also the second guy has a really common name.

Twitter and 4chan, I'm not putting any names because the second guy could very easily be wrong as well. I think at this point they are just tracking one specific 2010 Dodge Challenger around the Midwest but we aren't 100% that it is the right car. The rims and paintjob are different, but obviously those are things you can change.

I kinda doubt that. As dumb as these morons are, there's no way they're dumb enough to think it's a good idea to hang around after dark. Worst case is a lone nutter on a shooting spree.
