I have been asking people for specific examples of rules they did not like from the EU.

The best so far is something to do with a test they make lorry drivers take.

One guy went on about a light bulb with mercury in it had to be disposed of properly, but to be fair to him, I persuaded him that was reasonable.

And you may think they are dumb racists, and maybe they are, but in the end, it is the people that choose their representatives and their government.

The absolute majority of the British people have spoken.
None of those things are going to stop globalization. The UK is going to the bargaining table to negotiate 95% of the things they are losing by leaving the EU, and there's not close to majority support to walk away from those 95% of things. I dont think most of the leave voters are dumb racists (the usual coalition of the worst posters on here support this, of course, but not everyone who voted leave is a dumb racist or even close to it, western countries need to do a better job broadening the benefit of economic growth or else we'll see more of these type of blunders) but this referendum was driven by xenophobia and the results leaves everyone worse off.

And of course, the immigration that "leavers" are voting against will still occur, but now they won't receive the EU benefits.

But as usual the initial reactions are overwrought, the vote is just the beginning of a long process and negotiations - the markets will churn about a bit for awhile as things sort out.

Since the majority on this forum are slavish hogs to democracy, enjoy the jackboot decision of voters and smile, raise your arm, and say Sieg Heil.
The British saved us during WW2, will induce WW3? Trump Putin UK triumvirate will rule.

It's a crazy world.

It's always been intention to retire to France. I might close my business early and do ~4 years on benefits just because I'm pissed off though.

Maybe, as a first step, not vote for the campaign that goes into obvious #FactsDontMatter mode and literally suggests that you should ignore expert consensus because "we've had enough of experts thinking they know what's best".

USA helped, Britain saved, Russia did the dirty work. It's just that the stubbornness of the British doesn't fit the glove this time.

From what I saw both campaigns weren't bothered about facts.

Yep. We're going to get rid of huge numbers of young hardworking taxpayers and bring home a few million unhealthy retirees. Should do wonders for the economy. Save the NHS amirite?

The Soviets saved Europe and crippled Germany. Stalin spent most of 1942-1944 pleading with FDR and Churchill to get the **** out of North Africa and forget about British colonial interests and take on Germany in Europe. Americans and British opportunistically swooped in the late stages in 1944 after the Soviets were starting to crush the Germans to pick up their share of the scraps in Europe.

In my experience British expats are the worst at intergrating into their host cultures.

Unless banging local prostitutes counts.

They will have to give Britain every benefit She asks for. Otherwise She will maybe leave NATO too, for getting Real Independence.

Maybe... I think both campaigns run a line of hate, fear, threats and generally not setting a particularly good example to anyone. That is a sad reflection on the UK.
