So youth had the highest turnout?

That is surprising.

Won't olds be hurt the most by increased austerity?

What about percentage of each age group that didnt vote or which age groups are largest? Havent seen this yet so guess these may take longer to come out?

Are you saying that Muslims are more violent and more likely to be criminals?

I assumed the stay+leave = a number and the difference between that # and 100 is who didn't vote.

No, he needs to pretend that he is talking about EU immigrants for his argument to be even remotely coherent. So probably not Muslims.

Of what relevance is linking the SMP LC thread from 3 days ago with a giant Masque post about aiming guns or something?

I just don't get it.

58-33 for 65+ just really surprises me. Unless you are living in poverty already, if you are in that stage of your life why would you want a major disruption that you possibly may not be able to recover from.

Someone is gonna need to explain that aspect to me.

Cheers, I sort of got that but the pic he posted was from a poll not actual votes... plus I dont have a grasp on how big the 18-24 age group is compared to the 65+

Can't believe my eyes, are they really leaving? Being an island must go to your head. But maybe better so, being the squeaking wheel with an odd currency.
You realise that the following EU members also don't use the Euro...

Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Sweden.

But thanks for your valuable insight.

Is this a level?

That map is not accurate at voting zone level.

Do you think it will end up hurting them financially? I know it is tough to say at this early of a stage but if I had decent financial security I would have a very hard time voting to leave. Who knows what happens to social spending, health services, etc

They may recover from it but to even want to go through even like 2-3 years of uncertainty at that stage of your life is pretty ballsy.

Some of them probably think that life was better when they were young, the EU didnt exist, and the UK was a great country. I hope that they live long enough to see Ireland and Scotland leave because of their dumb vote.

Lol, some people just don't get it. Apparently even though this is devastating for the whole world the EU wasn't able to offer the UK acceptable terms for staying in the EU. Who's really at fault here ?

Its like a doctor saying you are sick and it will be a disaster if you die and it will have a huge impact on him as well. Somehow when you ask him for a medicine he declines but gives you an aspirin instead. Utter shock when you die obv.

The EU will punish the UK and hopefully address the critics, the reform will be the best thing to happen for the EU. Money is just money, ideals are worth much more but thats not something our generation is really down with.

Sweden and Denmark are peninsulas with currencies they are proud of, kingdom and stuff. I figure that's the reason they don't have the Euro, like UK being a full island with even more old-fashioned bias.

The UK will just be a bigger Norway from now on.

The rest of the countries you mentioned will join the Euro when allowed to, they just need to get their economies in shape first.

In a post 20 pages back (before yesterday's voting commenced), somebody noted that UK betting markets were predicting the "smart money" was betting on a Remain outcome by a confident 82-to-18 margin. Concurrently, several UK newspaper polls were indicating the vote would be much closer. It looks like the "smart money" wasn't so smart ...

My question: Since Ladbrokes, Betfair et al. were so wrong, have the bookies taken a bath - or just the smart folks who placed bets? Another question: Let's suppose I took the 82-18 odds for "Remain" to prevail and I bet $1,000.00 for that outcome. (Somebody else had to take the other side of my bet, so let's say that person bet $1,000.00 that "Leave" would prevail.) Given the actual results, how much money have I lost, how much has the other side of my bet won, and how much has our bookie won (or lost)?

I obviously don't understand how betting works. I just thought it was very peculiar how the betting markets and the polls could be so out of kilter. Could it be that the smart money folks were betting heavily for "Remain" in the hopes that people who were thinking about voting "Leave" would see what the betting markets were predicting, throw their hands up in despair, stay home and not vote? (In other words, the "smart money" folks were betting their hopes rather than what they really thought might happen?)
