Probably not very effectively but the Queen could. Hasn't happened since 1708

She wont though. Then again god might stop saving her and Charlie might decide it's time for some fun.

Let's make this thing even more ridiculous.

To appear as, or even possibly more, FUBAR than the American political situation is an extraordinary achievement given the state of affairs over here. Well done lads, bloody good show, pip pip and all that rot.

Boris didn't resign. He led Leave to victory, then was, more or less, offered the PM role to lead the country in leaving, then decided to not even run.

A lot of people are very suspicious of his motives for leading Leave, claiming it was just a political move that backfired, and he didn't actually think they'd win, or even want them to win - hence the lack of plan.

Not massively sure why Farage resigned. Personally I think he realised he's in over his head. Supposedly he was getting phased out of any negotations with the EU anyway. Also, his party, UKIP, were pretty much run on a platform of anti-EU, anti-immigration. Now it's 'won' it's hard to say what their support will do, especially when the promises of a post EU utopia fail to emerge.

Dont know about FTSE but Construction real world economy PMI down to 46 is pretty doomsday.
07-04-2016 , 12:19 PM
and most of that data was before the vote. It could be very bad.

Doomsday is along way off though. There's an enthusiastic Hovercraft manufacturer story on the BBC, They're' getting lots more business because of the £. Maybe they're good for getting off sinking ships

Hovercrafts do only work with high rates of inflation...

manufacturing pmi up from 50.1 to 52.1, undoomsday

I strongly suspect Nigel Farage stepped down because he (thinks so at least) just got his MEP seat referendumed out of existence but has no chance at getting a MP seat.

As close as we'll get to a literal political suicide.

Excuse me, did Farage resign? Brexit is falling apart. Those *******s stirred us up.
07-04-2016 , 12:52 PM
farage resigns every few months dont worry about it
07-04-2016 , 12:58 PM
As Chris Evans has left Top Gear, I thought I'd propose a new line-up. Corbyn is The Stig, obviously.

Farage could do a passable Clarkson

I don't know what sort of horrible country it's turning into, but if the UK is going to start deporting people who entered legally then we may leave.

"The Home Secretary has come under fire for threatening to deport European Union migrants already living in Britain when the UK leaves the EU.

During the EU referendum the Leave campaign said it did not want EU nationals already in the UK to be repatriated after Brexit.

But Theresa May and her team at the Home Office have now suggested that it would not be a given that EU national could remain in the UK after Article 50 negotiations conclude."

the argument is whether we should wait for the eu to agree to a guarantee of expat rights in both directions, or whether we should do it first and hope they agree to reciprocate later

on one hand its not good to play politics with peoples lives like that, but on the other i think the eu would have no problem using it as leverage if we act without them on board. tough spot
07-04-2016 , 03:20 PM
Right, I read that on the BBC. I take that as a negotiating position that they want reciprocal rights for UK citizens already in Europe - I don't think there's any danger of that not getting agreed.

EDIT: What they could/should announce is that absent an EU-level agreement they'll go reciprocal country by country and then, for example Poland could announce now that they'll do the same.

Lektor - good move. Will increase the sense that UK is playing fair with each country, even if the EU are being dicks.
07-04-2016 , 03:27 PM
can poland do that without receiving a substantial punishment from the germans

You always talk as the EU can take autonomous action on these topics. It doesn't work like that. The EU probably doesn't do anything without everybody agreeing on the best course of action.

We know. That's why it's so dysfunctional.
