i appreciate these protestors. kavenaugh is a smug piece of ****, more people should let him know how hated he is

Yeah, someone just needs to release those documents. If there's iron-clad evidence he perjured himself, it could sink his nomination... and they may not have time to confirm someone else before the election. Obviously they'd ram someone through in the two months before a new Senate was sworn in if they lost the Senate, but at least they'd look God-awful doing it to the 10-15% of the country that pays attention.

They could produce a video of Kavanaugh personally aborting his mistresses third trimester baby and not a single Republican would vote against him.

What an enormous farce.

I've always thought Garland should have been recess appointed and am still pissed that Obama didn't do it

Yeah she was just signaling that Kav sank that 3 pointer from his desk or she hangs out with more crips than white supremacists' and supports policy that benefits gangs instead of white supremacists'

It doesn't really matter what she was trying to do but she doesn't get the benefit of doubt for reasons other posters have articulated and I agree his record should be the focus but I don't think it matters and he will be confirmed.

Didn't the Senate intentionally have no recess too long that year as a block on this?

I wonder what this was about. Kamala Harris is implying that Kavanaugh spoke about the Mueller investigation with someone at the law firm that Trump's lawyer works for.

09-06-2018 , 12:51 AM
he was evasive as ****
09-06-2018 , 02:19 AM
Kavanaugh looked super shook there, whoa.

So she obviously knows he did this but can't prove it, in which case, what's the point of bringing it up?

Kinda the same thing with the Leahy questioning.
09-06-2018 , 08:42 AM
Lol his nuts went into his throat. I hope she has a card she plays on this cock.
09-06-2018 , 08:44 AM
Or if she does have a name then she should give it to him. It's ridiculous to expect Kavanaugh to remember every time he spoke to someone in a specific law firm and the content of that conversation. As he points out, he doesn't necessarily know what law firm everyone works for or has worked for.

Since these are transparently political, the point isn't necessarily to achieve some killshot that ultimately derails the nomination. I think the goal is simply to make Kavanaugh look bad, maybe you get him to perjure himself and can impeach him with some potential future Democratic majority. Maybe you want to overturn some precedents the Roberts Court is about to set and you want to say they were invalid because Kavanaugh Doesn't Count. Maybe you plan to stack the courts when Elizabeth Warren becomes President with the pretense that Kavanaugh lied or was slippery and the Garland heist and together 'justifies' court packing blah blah blah.

Obviously Kavanaugh is going to get confirmed but it would be Peak Democratic Naivete to simply go through the motions and give Trump an easy victory without trying to bloody the guy first. Embarrass him, maybe he slips up and perjures himself, maybe not, make him look bad, figure out what to do with it later.

I only watched the 2 minute clip, but I feel like he acted exactly the same way I would if I were on the stand and a lawyer started asking a line of questions and I had no idea where they were going with it.

^this

lycosid,

lol @ "having no idea where she was going with" the line of questioning about whether or not he ever discussed the special counsel's investigation into russian meddling and the trump campaign with trump's legal counsel. gmafb with this raised by wolves ****, you and he both know exactly where the **** she's going with it.

Lol You obv haven’t been watching the confirmation. The dude remembers every zit on his ass from 1987 but acts like he needs to buy a vowel the second she mentions Kasowitz.

If your goal is to cause confusion and maybe get a perjury out of it, Harris had the better play. Right? Give him a name and he will pivot to to "I don't remember," the end. I actually thought it was pretty clever of Harris to leave it open ended since Kavanaugh looks dumber as he stammers and hems and haws sounding clueless. Which was the point, after all. I agree in The Discourse rules it's probably not fair and unbecoming of a black lady to treat a nice white carpool dad that way, but Kavanaugh wasn't prepared for pretty obvious tomfoolery so his fault, also **** all these fascists, it's fine to make em look stupid if you can.

You're imagining a game with some fair rules or some **** where you're trying to uncover the truth; Harris is there to make Kavanaugh look dumb, maybe trick him into lying under oath. She didn't get the perjury but she got her fund-raising email + clip of Kavanaugh looking knavish so victory Harris IMO.

my lawyer of a mom told me yesterday that judges can be impeached not only for perjury or impropriety, but even for *the appearance* of impropriety. it's not an exceedingly high threshold/burden of proof.

i would be willing to bet big money that the documents republicans are withholding due to "executive privilege" have some content to them which would indicate he hasnt been entirely forthcoming with all of his answers to questions about his tenure as staff secretary with GWB admin.

def drawing live to kavanaugh removal if dems win midterms and ever grow spines. that would make me very happy because i really hate this smug child-rapist-baptist-youth-camp-counsellor-looking mother****er

OK, I guess that as far as transparently bad faith political grandstanding goes it was perfectly cromulent bad faith political grandstanding. But folks ITT seem to be falling for it, talking about HOW UNCOMFORTABLE Kavanaugh looked and whatnot. Obviously lying and evasive! When he reacted exactly how any SC nominee would and should act if he had no idea wtf Harris was talking about. Which I suppose means Harris' grandstanding worked? Good job I guess.
