Jeff Flake votes over 80% with Trump. Typical "talk tough, act weak"
mcconnell and the politics of the republican caucus determine what comes up for a vote, donald trump has nothing to do with it. he would have no clue what any of it was even if he was a part of choosing what jeff flake votes on. drooling donnie dotard is “out of it” in every sense of the phrase

Have the marching orders to explain how she is making this up despite discussing in therapy 6 years ago?

Was there more from Maggie Haberman? That tweet seems to be pointing out someone else had counselled Dems to stand down. I suppose either way it is on her for not making clear why she was pointing it out.

McArdle going hard to the paint

I actually agree with the expunging part, but Kavanagh denied the allegations as an adult and for the highest judicial appointment in the land. Hard to have forgiveness and redemption for something he didn't do.

I did laugh at this reply

Trump and the GOP really ****ed this up by waiting this long and then nominating someone with this many skeletons in his closet. This is very likely to be their only chance before the election unless they try to slam someone through in a month. As a result, they really REALLY don't want to withdraw him.

Spoiler:
Don't worry, though, if they lose the Senate they'll just slam someone through in the remaining couple months because lol democracy, that's why.

When questioned by President Trump and GOP leadership about allegations of a failed rape attempt decades ago, Brett Kavanaugh confessed and asked for understanding, explaining that, although not an excuse for failing, he was very young and really drunk.

R or O?

Juve defense is probably the best play that gives the Senators the most cover. He just gives us something along the lines of "When I was that age I made some mistakes, including underage drinking. I don't recall anything like what was described, but I can imagine that my drunken behavior could have made someone uncomfortable or threatened and I'm sorry for that...." I'm sure there is a better way to word it, but you get the idea. The goal is the Al Franken denial, where you simultaneously deny but claim that the accusation is credible. Add in the fact that he was a kid, and GOP has a plausible excuse (not that they actually need one -- he could assault someone on the way to his hearing and they'd probably still confirm him).

However, this only works if he hasn't done anything like that since. While I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot more, my guess is that there are not a lot more, but at least one more. I'm just pulling that out of thin air though.

So if this rapist gets confirmed, can he be removed down the line?

I suppose it is theoretically possible, so he can be. But he won't be. Not gonna happen.

If Democrats remove a rapist Republicans will just remove all the Democrats for being Democrats.

They'd do the latter anyway.

The testimony she's quoting is from, like, September 7th. There's no reason for her to post it now except to passive-aggressively finger-wag.

Jeff Flake’s only concern is not making the Republican Party look so awful that it stops being a viable political party. He is all for their horrific agenda but doesn’t want to make it too obvious that they are the party of disgusting cretins; this behavior torpedoed his bid for re-election. Republican voters want them to be *******s

Wow predictit thinks this stuff matters. Only has Kavanaugh at $0.32 to be confirmed in September. And $0.58 to get 50+ votes by 10/31.
09-17-2018 , 12:12 AM
At least we get to find out if anything matters. And if it does, approximately where the line is right now.

They’re likely going to force Kavanaugh to withdraw and nominate Barrett and try to slam it through starting around 10/1
