Any theories on why the FBI didn't interview Ford or Bart? Is it because lying to the FBI regularly gets prosecuted and lying to Congress doesn't?

I suspect that whether or not Kavanaugh committed perjury is going to be just like impeachment, it's a political matter, not a legal matter.

Ah, yes, good to see Schumer giving some quotes on the stuff average Americans really care about. Will Chuck and Mitch be friends after this? How long before the sore loser libs are being friendly to Corker in the hallway again?

When I find out that co-workers have deplorable (racist, sexist, rapeologist) views, guess what, I'm not so friendly to them anymore... ever. **** these guys.

McConnell started the cloture process about 45 minutes ago, by the way. Looks like there will be a procedural vote Friday and a full vote on Saturday. Good news here is with a weekend confirmation, Bart can really cut loose and go full blackout to celebrate.

Well, even though I knew it was pointless, I was going to call Perdue's office to voice my opposition to Kavanaugh, but now I REALLY know there's no point.
10-03-2018 , 10:42 PM
Merkley was just on MSNBC and said his understanding is that the Republicans aren't going to make copies of the report. So in the roughly 24 hours before the procedural vote and 48 hours before the final vote, 100 Senators have one copy to read.

Call anyway. If I had a Republican Senator or Representative, I'd be lighting up their phones daily.

Just finished a book on the Clarence Thomas hearings, very depressing. Joe Biden and the Dems got completely outplayed; they held back a ton of dirt they had on Thomas because the Republicans threatened to release dirt on Anita Hill --which was a complete bluff. Anita Hill got railroaded by the system even though it wasn't even her idea to come forward.

Am I reading this right - Schumer can't even call Mitch a Liar?

Guessing that since the FBI is gathering facts for the committee, and the committee already heard from Ford and BK, there was no need to. Their job as I understood it was to interview other possibly relevant witnesses, who had not appeared before the committee.

Seems pretty clear, it's too much of a risk for the White House to let the FBI re-interview Bart. Too many tough follow up questions, all the Ramirez questions and other stuff he didn't get asked, it's harder to lie to professional FBI investigators than Senators, etc. If the FBI were not constrained by the White House, they would assuredly be interviewing Ford and Bart.

i'm new to this discussion but here goes:

i think he was a major alcohol abusing a-hole in his teens and at Yale. the general description fits alot of people i know (including me, but a bit later in life)

blasey ford incident likely happened. was it as she said or nowhere near as bad? how long did it last? (never seen that question asked(....he was a minor. what would happen today to a 17 year-old who did what she alleges? i'm guessing nothing except write-up, stern warning and stay away from that woman.. i think campus police and DA's in relevent counties deal with this stuff every single weekend and simply exercise restraint.

ramirez incident almost certainly happened.... but until she met with lawyers and memory experts, she didn't know if it was kavanaugh. i don't think this is disputed by anyone who isn't very biased ...... it's bad that he was older. i've seen women do stuff like that to men many times, but of course men are evil and women are just joking around and it's harmless.

swetnick is a nut... i think everyone agrees on that... she was a gift to the republicans.

lastly, what is the relevance of K using the expressions "devil's triangle" and "boofing"? not sure why he needs to answer those questions. and to think that there aren't more than 1 definitions for each, especially given the passage of 40 years.. i had never heard of either.

all this talk of K and BF perjuring themselves is silly. you'd have every single trial with testimony resulting in perjury by these standards.

people suggest that all would be well if K had just admitted he was obnoxious drunk at Yale..... somehow i find that hard to believe. it's easy to say.

basically a politically motivated witchhunt... republicans aren't above dirty tricks themselves.

Senate Judiciary Twitter lying to the public. Cool cool cool.

https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/03/polit...ugh/index.html

Eight Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee sent a letter to GOP Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa suggesting there could have been something in previous FBI background checks on Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh related to inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse.

The Democratic senators accuse Republicans of mishandling confidential background investigation information, and call for Republican staff on the Judiciary Committee to correct what they say is an inaccurate statement in a tweet posted Tuesday that said "nowhere" in the prior background checks was there a "whiff of ANY issue--at all--related in any way to inappropriate sexual behavior or alcohol abuse."

Are you asking how long he pinned her to the bed and groped her, or how long he kept his hand over her mouth to stop her from screaming, or something else? What's the acceptable threshold?

The most productive thing in the last few pages is a bunch of lawyers outing themselves.

LOL.. wow, are you trying to be stupid? or is it just natural?.

she can't remember stuff from 2 weeks ago

yes, georgey, whether it lasted 3-4 seconds or 5 minutes makes a huge difference as to intent and interpretation/misinterpretation/etc.

you think the police/prosecutor wouldn't ask about the timeline of the event. wo

of course, there's the whole question of whether he put his hand over her mouth. after all it was 40 years ago
10-04-2018 , 02:27 AM
Well that didn't take long.

I barely skimmed your first post because it appeared as a lot of nonsense on first blush.

My question to you is if I go back and read it only to find out you are a Rapeologist will you jump off a bridge?

Conversely, if I read it, and was wrong, and you presented salient and well thought arguments that have not been gone over ad naseum in this thread and support the facts as we know them and the characters involved as we know them I will offer a sincere apology.

However before I go back and read your first post I need your committment to this deal.
