But what they say about Jews, usually in the context of Israel, is, at any rate, to the ear of someone of Jewish ancestry, sometimes quite disturbing, particularly when one is sitting in some place in France or Austria that never has really dealt with its history in regards to this issue.
I'm not going to say it doesn't happen that their perception of individuals gets colored by their political conviction in many cases, it would be unreasonable to think it does not.

But in the context of this thread ("Big Swastika Painted Outside My Door") I took "anti-Jew" to mean someone actively supporting persecution of Jewish people, and that would be a fairly rare view in the current European left.

All that said I certainly agree that the left's view of Israel is very often unrefined, stereotypical and destructive.

But there was another reason I translated the lucky event into to money and I would have thought it was obvious.

If the sentiment in america is tilting to where people are emboldened to do things like this are you not at all concerned about the slippery slope? What about in 2 years when the economy takes a plunge and president trump needs a scapegoat? You don't think it's possible he'll lean on old hatreds?
Two years to the day and the economy is booming....just thought I would remind you...

So I realized this happened three months after Unite The Right in Charlottesville.

David, I know people give you a lot of grief on this forum, and I think they are unfair. I find it very refreshing how you always look to find the best in people like Trump and supporters of his who go painting swastikas on Jewish people's houses. Most of us humans aren't capable of such perspectives and I'm sure this ability would give you a great advantage over the vast majority of the human population on Earth in the math section of the SAT. I've purchased and read many of your books and always enjoyed your writing in them and on the forums here, and I hope the day comes when The Special Sklansky forum is reopened. You should be proud you reacted to such a horrible thing in such a way, just like I'm sure you'll react to Donald Trump's Presidency by voting to reelect him.

Don't let the haters get you down David, you're one of a kind! I hope this post makes you feel great!

Spoiler:

That will be $50 dollars

But if that was insufficient for some odd reason, surely a little music and comedy will hit the $pot!

Inter alia, I'm a retired mathematician and my area is considered to be pure mathematics. Almost* no one I know in these areas of math are in it for the money. Which is fortunate for them because they arepaid far less then lawyers, doctors, etc.

*"Quants" (mathematicians and physicists working for Wall Street) are a possible exception.

Google says avg. salary for a mathematician is $105k. That would be good pay for the majority of lawyers I know. I think you're overestimating the % of lawyers making biglaw salaries.

Most lawyers I know claim to be taking home at least 150k/year, most claim much more. And these are young men and women just starting out. But then again I’ve lived in some high cost of living cities like Boston.
