Does anyone else cringe a lot when watching Bill Maher's show because of all the applause breaks? It's not even the amount of them, it's hearing them come on with one or two people trying to get it going and often slowly succeeding (these ones are the worst) while the guests don't know if they're supposed to pause and wait for one or just keep going. The Real Time crowd gets on my nerves.

So ****ing much. Maybe even more than you describe here. Like, we get it, we don't like Trump, you have an interesting guest who knows things that we don't about serious subjects, getting glad that they said something bad about Trump and wasting several minutes over it with woos and ****, especially when it is a more dire subject, tilts me. It's not that entertaining.

Then there is the fact he is not very a very funny comedian and he can't let a bad joke get the mild response it deserves.

If he didn't have intriguing guests frequently I'd bounce based on that alone. I dislike of him and his crowd.

I stopped watching Bill Maher in the mid-90's, this has worked out very well for me.

The only time I saw Bill Maher in the mid-90s was when he showed up at some cheesy Hollywood club with a chick 20-years younger and a foot taller than him - which happened most times I wound up at a cheesy Hollywood club back then. He was a running joke.

Now he's showing up at the same club with a chick 40 years younger

I’m not a Russian bot. I have an iPhone 6.

Once you include that bit in as context, it is really ****ed up.

Stage parents are really engaging in socially acceptable child abuse and child exploitation. They are vile people who only see their children as a means to make money for themselves. Some of them would give their children to known pedophiles if the videos they make generate a profit they can get their hands on.

I couldn't be in that film at 7 without seeing a child psychologist for years afterwards. Any concept of innocence would be gone.

The Graduate would have been a really ****ed up movie if Benjamin Braddock was 17, don't you think?

My young nephew is currently appearing in a play with very adult themes, including rape and murder. He gets $50 a week, which he gets to keep for himself. His parents are supporting him because he loves to be on stage. It's a ton of work for them and I'm pretty sure they'd be happier if he was playing baseball or something, but this is his passion. I doubt he'll be needing a psychologist.

Sounds like he's doing serious work for $50 a week.

PETA PETAing all over the place, as usual.

I bet Donald Trump Jr. had a good laugh over that one.

This is a really amazing story on Liberty University if you haven't heard it, the so called non profit uni where the Pres. makes $1,000,000 per year:

He really is. It's 9 shows a week. idk how they're getting away with paying him so little. It's not like this is some fly-by-night road show either, they're a very established theater company.

What if a female CEO acted like Elon Musk?

Quote:
On Thursday night, The New York Times published an interview with Elon Musk that offers a view into the billionaire entrepreneur’s life in the last year. Musk choked up “multiple times,” the Times reported in the story, and “alternated between laughter and tears.” He explained that he was overworked at Tesla, his electric-car company—which has spent the past several months scrambling to meet ambitious production goals—and that the situation has taken a toll on his physical health, family time, and social life.
The article is pretty boring but when you put the quoted stuff in the context of "imagine a woman doing this" it's pretty hilarious

No. Young men of 17 are generally capable of making their own sexual decisions, and Braddock is more similar in maturity to the average current day 17 year old than 21 year old anyway.

It probably doesn't mean much, but I'm trying to imagine this level of pushback if it's two gay dudes and I'm really struggling.
08-21-2018 , 04:41 AM
Some people seem hung up on assuming vulnerability is an absolute.

I cant see how that is the case, sure its going to be there some of the time, but not all of the time.

Without knowing the impossible, which is the real internal emotional dynamics of the relationship between Actress and old enough to know in my personal opinion 17 year old boy, being so dogmatic about essence of guilt of one party seems pure outrage lynch mob imo and is basically an analogue of so many behaviours this forum likes to criticise from other cohorts.

Also this is an observation that cuts across the gender axis of the agents in this specific scenario.

Also the Film story seems fairly laid back for European independent cinema.

Also, chez is wrong (again).

Wasn’t spacey with a seventeen year old. But I think that was a flat out assault.

Yeah I'm not feeling the outrage about the movie tbh.

Well there's like dozens and I think they're all assault.

Disturbing internet advice time: If you know any 7 year olds, do not have sex with them, now or in the future. No matter how much you think they flourish or whatever in the coming decade.
