To be clear, I think high speed rail transport is plausible and a great idea. There should already be such a connection to Stockton,

I support Elon Musk up until his feud with Superman gets a city leveled and Superman killed.

A throwback for wil fans: Before her recent, shocking 6-1 6-0 loss, Serena Williams had learned that her half-sister's killer had been paroled

One of wil's things about why Serena was actually super ghetto and he totally wasn't racist to say that is that she celebrated the gang that killed her sister or something, I don't even know

Musk and Trump are very similar, their fans are like a god damn cult.

Btw, smart people actually don't work for Musk once there they leave as quickly as they can since he runs the place like Trump. They're quite similar approach wise especially with the media, usually full of **** but knows how to get the attention--not sure why he got so much backlash for donating to republicans, he basically is one.

We're praising a shuttle that'll get used by what a handful of people some times a year. He can blow his money all he wants to but man is this lighting money on fire.

Not quite. Serena put the hit out.

You mean the Serena Williams who had her half-sister killed by Crip gang members in Compton, and then was widely criticized for doing the Crip walk at the Olympics? That Serena Williams? Because, we all know the Crip walk is just so "Palm Beach".

Come on dude. You're really ****ing stretching.

I never could exactly piece together what wil’s theory was about Serena but he did at one point imply she was in on it for some reason.

And here is a thread where a Civil War historian dunks on a Mississippi state senator (and US senate candidate) who said, in a tweet titled "The truth", that Lee opposed secession and slavery:

Nathan J. Robinson takes his turn with Williamson

Quote:
Kevin Williamson, in the National Review, called it a “batty” plan to “nationalize every major business in the United States,” which would be “the largest seizure of private property in human history.” It is “nothing less” than “wholesale expropriation.” It is “bonkers,” “daft,” “unethical, immoral, irresponsible,” and even “unconstitutional.” (Current Affairs challenge: find the part of the Constitution that discusses employee codetermination. Note: no creative “interpretation” allowed. It has to be in the text. We’re textualists, after all.)
Quote:
Williamson does not make much of an actual argument about why the Warren proposal would be bad, or how having German-style codetermination will spell the ruin of the American economy. He mostly just throws invective at it, calling Warren names and invoking Hugo Chavez before recommending that corporations relocate overseas to avoid U.S. regulations. But as far as I can tell, Williamson’s theory is that by setting conditions for how corporate boards should be set up, what values they must pursue, and when their stock can be sold, the federal government would effectively “own” the companies.

To which I can only say: if this is the standard for what constitutes “nationalization,” then all American corporations have been “nationalized” since their creation.
Quote:
In fact, there are already tons of requirements that the government imposes on corporations, because the corporation is a creation of government. If Kevin Williamson thinks Elizabeth Warren’s proposal is dictatorial, just wait until he sees the Delaware incorporation statute, the law that defines how a corporation works. It tells corporations how their officers are to be selected, who has liability for what, what powers the stockholders have. It even tells them how often they have to have meetings! Dictatorship! Slavery! The road to serfdom!
And in conclusion, the right's radicalism on issues like this is driving people to the left:

Quote:
If you want to know why so many millennials are socialists, this offers a useful clue: because so many people on the right have come to define “capitalism” as “any set of rules that rich people like.” Shackford even puts the word “stakeholders” in quotes, as if it’s lefty lunacy to suggest that employees suffer meaningful consequences from decisions made by management, and therefore deserve to have their interests considered. This is how radical parts of the right have become: the very idea that a company should care about its workers as well as its profits, or give them a say in management decisions, is treated as a socialistic threat to the American way of life. No wonder that many people who see Warren’s proposal will say: “If that’s socialism, I guess I’m a socialist.”

Good news: returned mail-in ballots in the east Phoenix area are 5-10% D over R so far.

Bad news: even if that were sustained and included general election day turn-out, the election here would still be a solid R win.

I think someone archived the legendary wil prop bet meltdown. Not sure where it is, but if you can find it I guarantee it's worth hunting down.

The amazing thing about that thread is that LetsGamboool right at the start straight up tells him that he made a 3rd-quarter tax payment of $70,000, which is straightforwardly telling him that his base annual income is high six figs minimum, and wil presses on anyway.

Anyone know why LetsGamboool is banned btw?

I'm posting this not so humble brag because like 4 or 6 months ago various regs assured me there was no way I could build a successful business on my own.

I currently own my own practice outright, have a more than full caseload, and am currently looking to hire 2 therapists to deal with the referrals I'm getting...and I'll be taking 40% of their action.

My recurring costs are a little over $1k monthly, it took about $4k in start up funds, and last couple days I've grossed about $1k daily. Will provide evidence to anyone willing to wager $100 on it.

I'm drunk and willing to bet on myself. Id bet my practice grosses north of $350k in 2019. Who wants the under. GET REKT

So Austria raided it's own intelligence service in defense of wait for it

North Korea.

They raided it because they claimed that austria was printing blank North Korean passports. If this sounds logical to you, you'll believe anything.

My advice: wait on hiring. Refer overflow to colleagues who may be in a position to return the favor at some point. Keep your overhead low and your life simple.

And clean up after your dog.

Congrats on the success!

Better check out what people are saying about Bezos in the trump thread and plan accordingly.

For the last 4 hours I've been doing some searching and reading about how to afford it. Yes, the public schools in my area are awful, save for a few. Yes, we can afford Catholic school (6-9k a year). The issue is the "really good" private schools are an outrageous 25-33k. I actually thought they were more like 20k a year but talking to my friend in DC (a lawyer) he said that most people wouldn't send their kids to schools that "only" cost 20k.

From what I read, it seems that families that make under 130k can get financial aid, but above that you're pretty much looked upon to sacrifice to pay for their education.
