psh you can't trust these right wing millionaire scumbags on any level. i would have started suing him that day, it was a big mistake not laying on the ground until an ambulance wheeled him away in a neck brace.

just be like "yo law firm i'll give you 50% of any settlement you can get out of this multimillionaire congressman who assaulted me in front of a crowd of witnesses and now i can't walk right and my thinking is fuzzy. doctors can't explain it, so it'll take decades of expensive therapy and you can't expect me to work anymore. not like this."

How does a 100 billion dollar repair/relief effort get paid for? Obviously insurance companies have reserves and governments have funds. But how do you get to 100 billion?

Crazy thing is how much money some people make off this. We saw floods here that were like 1/10th of this but caused crazy destruction. Every hotel was full for 3-4 months, the industry made a fortune. The trades guys obviously make even more, working non-stop for years fixing. It's sometimes weird to imagine how some lose everything in it and some make everything.
