Whoever's got Pruitt, there's an opening for you.

I'm labeled "Moderate". I was a moderate in college and now most of those who were the left of me are on the right of me

This article from The American Conservative can't figure out why Thomas Jefferson rarely mentioned Sally Hemmings.

Real head scratcher.

I need to delete my fb. I know it, and I don’t know why I have not yet. The cost benefit is not even arguable anymore. As far as personal info, that ship has sailed and I know it. I was compromised in the big Experian hack, I went years without privacy settings and I work closely enough with digital marketing to know what is possible. At this point it is like not getting naked in front of your ex anymore.

I just don’t want to support it and I know my quality of life is diminished, not enhanced by fb. I’m in denial about 2+2 still.

Meeting a friend in Berlin June 1 and we're traveling in Germany for 7 days. He returns to US from Dusseldorf Friday the 8th at 8am. Assuming I can leave on Sun the 10th or Mon the 11th and want to stay within 250km of Dusseldorf (e.g., Amsterdam, Brussels, Antwerp), what do?

Note that we're going to an electronic music festival 2 hr NW of Berlin on the 1st and 2nd and then traveling West (he gives a talk in Bonn on the 5th). Don't mind if it's a group tour or solo activity, but what's a high percentage play for that weekend? It should involve things like beer and such. I speak some German but think Belgium or Netherlands would be more interesting. Have spent 5 days in Amsterdam previously.

I wonder if I'm as bad at anything as Mike Huckabee is at humor.

I hate you for posting that.

Hmm, beer tour of Belgium sounds pretty cool.

Bruselles and Bruges, easy.

It's hard to underestimate how much the base hates these immigrants. cp has a thread full of fantasies about mowing them all down with machine guns and bombs. The sum and total of the Trump appeal is pure racism, economic anxiety be damned.

Sessions sues California over land use law

The suit/law in question is kinda boring, but this one quote is great:

Quote:
Mr. Sessions assailed California’s political leaders in an unusually fiery statement, saying that the fight is distracting Justice Department officials from their work combating illegal gun sales, drug abuse and national security threats. The flurry of legal briefs being filed between the two sides is a waste of taxpayer dollars, he said.

“I regret the need to file yet another lawsuit against the State of California today,” Mr. Sessions said, adding, “We are forced to spend our resources to bring these lawsuits against states like California that believe they are above the law.”
CA GOAT

There was an episode in the first season of American Gods (overall: somewhat disappointing imo) that was intended to look like just such a fantasy, and one of the immigrants being mowed down was Hispanic Jesus. That might sound confusing if you haven't read the book, but whatever. At the time I thought maybe it was a little over the top. I guess I was wrong.

Nah. And these people aren't even joking, they are 100% keyed up to murder brown people en mass.

Last straw for me on the Facebook stuff. Facebook does think I'm black though, which is kind of hilarious.

So Kurt Eichenwald is trending on Twitter, you know there are some quality lolz incoming.

Conservatives in general seem to love this style of over explaining the **** out of jokes. Another favorite is to repeat the punchline over and over if you don't get a response the first time.

The deal with Eichenwald a week ago was that he was caught disagreeing with a pro gun Stoneman Douglas student, which caused a boycott campaign against MSNBC by Cernovich among others. They initially got one company to drop before word got out Eichenwald isn't a MSNBC contributor any more.

Apparently he is also not a Vanity Fair contributor.

I like how the author follows up his assertion of "almost no evidence that Sally Hemings existed" with evidence that Sally Hemings existed.

I got very liberal, but i'm also apparently in a long distance relationship, which i'm not sure my wife would approve.

We've reached peak irony imho. There's really no reason to even log into the site anymore because anything one might find interesting enough to post has already been posted and you can read the forums without logging in.
