His long appearances on CNN's morning show were great ... I have to chase down if he was on Fox or MSNBC last week as well.

Right. Anyone who has dealt with a narcissist type often thinks, imo, that the person lacks self-awareness. Or they lie about their stated morals and ethical codes. As in: "oh what a funny hypocrite Trump is, when the Trump Admin says what really bothered Trump was Scaramucci's cursing and lewd talk and brash behavior -- that's a lie." People might assume Trump is either lying or hilariously deluded; how could a boorish offensive guy like Trump, who prides himself on being politically incorrect and speaking his mind -- how could he be bothered by Scaramucci?. He surely loves a guy like Scaramucci, just shooting from the hip, cursing up a storm, mansplaining to the women how to dress like a professional.

But part of the narcissistic personality is they deeply believe in both the offense of the transgressions AND their own right to transgress. But ONLY their own. That's affirming of their power. The rules have to be respected and defended so the narcissist can violate them and feel more powerful for it. So I can sorta buy the notion that's why Trump's stated reason for firing Scaramucci is true, or at least true enough. He probably was really bothered with the brash swagger, the swearing, the insults to his co-workers despite the fact Trump is brash, swears, and insults his staff.

Scaramucci was shaping up to be the IRL version of Obama's Anger Translator from Key & Peele

His face is the nodding Bruce Springsteen band guy.

This is not shocking for some reason.

THE MOOCH is going to be a guest on Colbert on Monday!

Hopefully he's had a really bad day and coked up, or a really good day and coked up. I guess just hope he's coked up.

He could be Colberts White House correspondent or something. There has to be a place on tv for this guy.

He might try to rough up Colbert to get back in Trumps good graces.

Either way he's a lock to at least get on a reality show.

Spicer at The Emmys. How? Why?

The almost immediate redemption of all of Trump's flackeys into collective social good grace and celebrity appearances telling jokes about refugees on award shows gives a window into the future of the world after Trump. Just hearty laughs and yuks about all that. Look forward, not backward, etc.

Yeah, shows exactly how seriously to take media condemnation of trump (not at all). Spicer should be a ****ing radioactive pariah. Not yucking it up with colbert. I'm sure those people too scared of being rounded up and deported to flee a hurricane will be soothed by the "hilarious" emmy skit.

I say it in a whisper because at SOME POINT you reach a place where the left becomes too self serious and guilty of of not having any fun at all, and I realize that's a bad look and a turn off to some potential allies. Comedy can be an entry point into deeper ideological pursuits. But it shouldn't be a stopping point. So I must note that metric ****tons of modern American comedy (SNL, late night guys, Sam Bee, John Oliver, TDS) in the Trump era are simply not healthy. They are diversions, not a movement. It's funny and clever but the way the audience is enamored with it and uses it as a stand-in for any real meaningful action and organization is not good. How many people do you know are basically like self promoting themselves as #TeamResistance but whose main inputs are basically breathlessly waiting for the next Melissa McCarthy podium skit, that'll show Trump, hurr hurr. Laughter beyond gallows humor is a privilege. I'm not convinced history will look kindly on any of this.

Last night is a great example of how the comedy is a product and Spicer is just part of the act and part of the show. The Trumpening of America is supposed to lay bear the bread and circuses political impulses of the masses, something to tut tut at zombie right winger old whites who zone out watching Fox News and are happy so long as the Social Security checks roll in, but Comedy and Award Show Resistance is nothing but slightly more high brow circuses for layabout faux activists.
