Trump's Twitter account might not like this accusation.

If we could overthrow KJUs government with a similar cost to the war in Iraq I would be completely for it but since that seems impossible I dunno what we should do.

So anywhere from 500k to 1m dead and a few trillion $$ is OK?

In my opinion, yes.

I read this:
http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/HRC...quiryDPRK.aspx (all 376 pages) and the conclusion I came to is that the situation in that country is abominable and I think that cost may be worth it.

Would you say the situation in Iraq has improved a lot since the war?

Would you say the situation in Germany has improved a lot since the war?

I mean look I guess I should clarify my position:

I would support a war with a similar death toll and cost to that in Iraq if there was a high probability it would result in North Korea having a functioning democratic government and a reasonable level of human rights.

I obviously do not support a war that accomplishes nothing.

So when you said fine with the same cost as Iraq you were talking out your hole?

And I really can't believe on a poker site we have someone saying they'd be fine with 1m dead to achieve **** all, wtf is in the water over there?

Could just give them the +$2trillion and ask them to play nicely from now on. Makes as much sense as killing 1m and hoping for the best afterwards.

Same cost != same result.

Giving them $2 trillion would not accomplish anything. It's more about the situation of the people in their country than it is about their nuclear threat.

"And I really can't believe on a poker site we have someone saying they'd be fine with 1m dead to achieve **** all, wtf is in the water over there?"

Also this is dumb. Do you think we should have stayed out of WWII?

We must kill a few 100,000 N. Koreans in order to liberate those labor camps.

Yes, if could trade 300k for guarantee of human rights for the remaining I would take it.

Again, this is hypothetical because I don't think it's possible.

Also Iraq war death toll ~100k so this 500k-1mm number is bull****.
05-05-2017 , 11:34 AM
There's no way attacking North Korea would be good for North Koreans.
05-05-2017 , 12:02 PM
Yeah honestly I agree with you and I don't think we should do it.

But Pentagon simulations. Unless you have good reason to believe those are bull**** too. A war with NK also intuitively feels many times worse than Iraq. 5x to 10x? Sure, maybe. Seoul alone is a disaster waiting to happen. And that's without even discussing the WMDs we know they have and are willing to use.

This is my fault for starting this diversion, but:

I agree with you. War with NK would be worse, and probably would not accomplish the goals well. I said if we could accomplish the goal with a similar cost to the Iraq war (i.e. 100k deaths) I would support it.

War with a country with nuclear weapons that loves to fire them off to frighten the world?

There is no intuition. This is far worse. Also, North Korea is a proximate to major world cities. And there is a non-zero chance they may fire something to the United States. If there was a war with North Korea, the entire world would be scared. With Iraq, Americans were watching CNN like it was a sports event.

Hypotheticals are not inherently bad posting.

Yours definitely was tho
05-05-2017 , 01:41 PM
No it wasn't.
05-05-2017 , 02:11 PM
War w n korea will result in a deathtoll farrrr greater than iraq, literally everyone with half a clue agrees on this so ur elementary little thought experiment is completely and utterly useless in the context of this discussion and the real world
05-05-2017 , 02:13 PM
If we could liberate North Korea while incurring only the death toll of the Iraq war, would you support that effort?
05-05-2017 , 02:15 PM
No.

You're seriously ****ed up if you're willing to sacrifice a few 100k lives (while having no detrimental affect to yourself) so Trump/US can look good.

Either sort it diplomatically or leave it to China.

The North Koreans will actually fight back, tho.
