So the 25th is when we're maybe expecting a nuclear test. Pence was supposed to be in Hawaii that day, but, uh...

This is probably fine.

It would be a little easier if they are getting intelligence from Chinese spy satellites, but they may not be. Plus the Navy has tracks on all the satellites so they know when they're passing and usually alter course to mask their true positions. The US is really good at that kind of stuff.

The entire Senate has been invited to the White House on Wednesday for a meeting about North Korea. News reports say it's a rare occurrence.

Does this mean Trump could be looking for a war declaration? Maybe the threat of sinking Carl Vinson and detaining of a US citizen and talk of a using a hydrogen bomb against us were enough to push him over the edge.

100% he's gonna try to sell them all on blasting NK. We have to and all that bull**** everybody else used on their stupid wars.

I don't believe jong un is crazy enough to strike USA or SK or whoever either unless he feels cornered, and that's what trump is doing.

The date on that is 2016.

It is very dangerous to fight with North Korea!
04-26-2017 , 08:08 AM
Wtf is going on????

I thought there'd be more concern itt with the sabre rattling considering how unstable/unpredictable Trump is.
04-26-2017 , 08:51 AM
A lot of us are concerned. We were concerned way back before November that electing this maniac would be a terrible idea, and we tried to tell people. What can we do now but protest?
04-26-2017 , 08:54 AM
Start doing it right then....Maybe begin by shutting **** down all over the country, get a few milion people outside his front door and stay there for more than 3 hours.

Phone calls and strongly worded emails aren't cutting it.
04-26-2017 , 09:52 AM
Last post wasn't aimed at you personally Einbert, just I don't really see much if any protesting going on.

You're not paying attention then.

The problem is twofold: (1) Republicans have all the chips and the vast majority are putting party in front of country and (2) the person sitting in the Oval Office is likely a treasonous criminal who also happens to have mental health issues and who is putting company in front of country.

But other than that, nothing to see here ... move along now.

I can't speak for everyone, but some of us are waiting with baited breath for this NK meeting at the White House today. Trump "may pop in" according to reports, and we'll see if he's looking for a war declaration if he does. Nobody can figure out why 100 Senators were invited to listen to 4 speakers when it's so much easier for the 4 speakers to just visit Capitol Hill.

Here's an update of current tensions and the 100 Senator briefing: What you need to know about rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula

I'm just not seeing it tbh, women's march/March for science are great ideas but won't achieve a thing. Same for shouting at your reps in town halls.

Lots of things would be much more effective way of protest, maybe a call for a general strike for starters.

What can you do though on a large scale? People have families, lives, jobs, kids, etc.

Just on logistics alone, it would be hard to do anything.

If Trump pushes this to war and it turns into the mess some are predicting, (i.e. enormous civilian deaths in South Korea and [possibly] thousands of flag draped coffins returning to Dover Air Force base - not to mention worldwide economic effects), I suspect voters will blame Republicans and vote against them en mass in the 2018 mid term elections. So Trump will manage not only to destroy North Korea but also the Republican Party as well.

Just hope they don't hit the east coast during the holidays.
04-26-2017 , 07:56 PM
I'm bad at great circle routes. Which is closer to NK, the Whitehouse or Mar-a-lago?

Meh, this is not unlike the posturing that the US did when India and Pakistan were developing their nuclear assets. Lots of tough talk but in the end once the nations have the weapons they're pretty much untouchable so nothing really happens.

If Kim really has working weapons then the whole discussion about going to war with them is moot unless the US wants to launch a nuclear first strike, and that would be pointless because then South Korea and Japan are threatened with a retaliatory strike even if the US mainland isn't. It's a bluff.

Trump though. If we think he's crazy, imagine what NK is thinking.
