So Roy’s wife Mrs. Dottie Sandusky Moore says she is suing WaPo. Shouldn’t she be suing the women themselves if they’re lying?

+2500 this suit is ever filed btw

Paul Reynolds, the Republican National Committeeman from Alabama, told The Hill that something about the timing of the accusation and the Post’s role breaking the story “doesn’t smell right.”

“My gosh, it's The Washington Post. If I’ve got a choice of putting my welfare into the hands of Putin or The Washington Post, Putin wins every time,” he said.

“This is going to make Roy Moore supporters step up to the plate and give more, work more and pray more."

The overwhelming majority of white voters in Alabama absolutely trust Putin over the Washington Post.

re: Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington)

Here's how this is likely to play out IMO.

1. National-level Republicans call for him to drop out of the race.

2. Moore still refuses.

3. Local GOP refuses to remove the nomination, citing the fact that the Washington Post is less reliable than Vladimir Putin and claiming this is just Clinton-spawned lies to cover up her support of pedophilia and push a Satanic agenda on the good Christian people of Alabama.

4. Moore wins.

5. GOP Senators express that they are "very concerned," and "deeply troubled."

6. GOP Senators stick a finger in the wind to see if they can get away with this, if not...

7. The Senate expels Moore with a 2/3 majority vote, the Governor of Alabama appoints a good ol' boy Republican to fill the seat, and they have another special election in which they attempt to find a candidate who hasn't molested children or ****ed a horse.

The seat is too important for them to have any morals over it - the likelihood of Democrats gaining two seats in '18 is significant, the likelihood of gaining three is virtually zero. Thus, this seat could determine control of the Senate for two years.

except #3 puts #4 happening at risk. Moore was only winning by 6 in poles before this story broke. So if they're going to impeach and replace Moore, why not just remove him from the ballot now? Makes no sense.

Nailed it. Even for just the Supreme Court, this senate spot is HUGE.

All the reports are saying that they legally CAN'T remove Moore at this time. They'd have to try to get people to write in Luther Strange.

Because its too late for them to put a new person on the ballot, Jones would win the seat as a dem. They got some weird rule where you can't put a new person on the ballot within 74 days of the election or something.

If they just let moore run and win, they can them impeach him and the gov can replace him with whatever Republican he wants.

Cernovich spent all that time and effort trying to trick some liberal protesters into holding up a sign that makes them look pro-pedo and the GOPe comes out blatantly pro-pedo in lockstep

They don't need to replace him, they can remove him from the ballot and if Moore gets the most votes the governor would appoint someone temporarily and there would be another special election. So people would know they're voting for a placeholder that would ensure a Republican would win the seat down the line.

re: Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington)

The state GOP withdraws their nomination of Moore, he's still on the ballot, if he wins the result isn't certified, then there'd be another special election.

Quote:
With so few days before the December 12 election, the Republican Party could withdraw its nomination of Moore, but the state can't remove him from the ballot under a state law that requires a minimum of 76 days to do that.

If the GOP were to remove its nomination and Moore won anyway, he would likely not be certified as the winner, Alabama Deputy Attorney General Brent Beal told Newsweek. If Moore were to withdraw his name from the race yet still win, the election would be declared null and void and another vote would be held.

I remain very skeptical about the prospects of a D win but damn, seems like the pieces are there. I mean think about what you're describing here and then remember that regular people/voters aren't like us, even frothy FNC types. People don't think about politics enough for something like what you're describing here to ever be reliable.

Also, I can't be the only one thinking about Scott Brown (R) in MA parallels...
