Do they believe it? Who cares, they don't dwell on it. What I am convinced of is that they thought Roy Moore Was a Democrat Pedophile Before Becoming Respectable Republican rattled around in their brains as the ultimate Own the Libs argument. That they have zero filter and low self awareness that this is moronic and doesn't work on a non-deplorable audience is because of generations of right wing media exposure and epistemic closure.
This is a profile on Ben Shapiro but this part is the entirely of these kinds of arguments

Quote:
Let me tell you why Ben Shapiro actually aggravates me. It is not his voice or demeanor, though I understand why others find these characteristics grating. Nor is it the way he inserts references to first-year law school doctrines even when they aren’t actually relevant. It is, rather, that Ben Shapiro is lying to his audience, by telling them that he is just a person concerned with the Truth, when the only thing he actually cares about is destroying the left. “Facts don’t care about your feelings” is a fine mantra, albeit kind of a dickish one. But it’s worthless if you’re going to interpret every last fact in the way most favorable to your own preconceptions, if you’re going to ignore evidence contrary to your position, and refuse to try to understand what your opponents actually believe. The New York Times actually quoted a sensible-sounding ex-Shapiro fan, who said he realized over time that Shapiro was just concerned with convincing other people he was right, rather than actually being right. Shapiro is annoying because he claims to love speech and discourse, to believe you should “get to know people… get to know their views…discuss,” but if you’re an Arab he’s already convinced you’re a secret anti-Semite, and if you’re a poor black person he doesn’t need to know you to know that you’re culturally dysfunctional.

The encouraging news is that if Ben Shapiro is the sharpest thinker among millennial conservatives, millennial leftists don’t have too much to worry about. You may feel as if Shapiro is a Vaporizer of Poor Logic, the Aristotle of our time. You may feel as if he has brutally torn apart every person who has crossed him in public, through his tried and tested technique of speaking extremely quickly until they give up. You may feel that he is brilliant and thoughtful and sincere.

But before you treat these feelings as real, remember that annoying little fact about facts: They don’t really care how you feel.

There's talk of a #boycott of Alabama if Moore wins but what is there to boycott? People get their peanuts from Argentina now anyways.

Woman who says she dated Roy Moore when she was 17, he was 34 has a note from him given at her high school graduation

Gibson is the one in this story:

Quote:
Shortly after the allegations first surfaced, Moore said in a radio interview with Sean Hannity that he did not know Corfman, but that he remembered Gibson as well as Gloria Thacker Deason, who had told The Post that she dated Moore when she was 18. He called each one “a good girl,” and said that he did not remember dating them.

But at two campaign events in recent days, Moore has backtracked.

At a Nov. 27 campaign event in the north Alabama town of Henagar, Moore said, “The allegations are completely false. They are malicious. Specifically, I do not know any of these women.”

At a Nov. 29 rally at a church in the south Alabama town of Theodore, Moore said, “Let me state once again: I do not know any of these women, did not date any of these women and have not engaged in any sexual misconduct with anyone.”

They haven't launched anything on their own in 6 years, they're already well underway on the boycott.

Even worse

Quote:
As she flipped through the scrapbook last week, Gibson said, she realized it contained other indications of her relationship with Moore, which she says began in March 1981, after he came to speak to her high school civics class.

On a page titled “commencement,” under “My own guests,” she had written “Roy S. Moore,” just above “mom” and “dad.”

On a page titled “remembrances,” she had listed her graduation gifts line by line, including “$10, card” from “Roy S. Moore,” and a check mark indicating she had sent a thank-you card.

Debbie Wesson Gibson points to an entry in her high school scrapbook, where she noted what she says was her first date with Roy Moore. (Jon Gerberg/The Washington Post)

On a page titled “the best times,” she had written: “Wednesday night, 3-4-81. Roy S. Moore and I went out for the first time. We went out to eat at Catfish Cabin in Albertville. I had a great time.” She had underlined “great” twice.
So not only does she have an actual piece of evidence that he wrote she's got a detailed list of events in their relationship. If she's making it up she's very very thorough.

RNC reverses, will support Moore in Alabama

winning > everything
12-04-2017 , 10:32 PM
The report comes after officials at the RNC and the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), the party's Senate campaign arm, told The Associated Press last month that they would not support Moore even after Trump stood by him.
uhh, is there a date on that letter?

well there ya go.

they must have done internal polling and realized nearly all republicans are completely deplorable and it won't cost them any votes or donations. nice party you got there

Might want to change the thread title. GOP doing a lot more than thumb twiddling today.

"Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP approves)"
12-04-2017 , 11:30 PM
I'm starting to think this Roy Moore might be a bit too fixated on sex. Someone should look into his background and see what they find.

So why wouldn't the Democrats ask Jones to withdraw and replace him with a Republican who would win? If it is right for Republicans to put someone in the Senate with the opposite ideology , to avoid him being a pedophile, why isn't it right for Democrats to do that?

(At this late date the actual strategy would be for Democrats and Republicans who don't want Moore, to agree on a Republican write in candidate who Jones would endorse.)
