That's wrong. That provision only applies to STATE elections, not federal.

Moore only has one recourse for a recount - if the election was within .5% that would trigger an automatic recount - but Moore lost by 3 times that.

So no recount.
But don't forget, if they disqualify enough write-in votes, somehow through magical math and a division by zero error Doug Jones lead percentage will actually shrink instead of grow.

I wonder if in a tight race like this it made a difference how the Democrats handled their recent scandals, Franken being the one with the highest profile. Maybe just enough voters saw a qualitative difference between the two parties to switch or stay home.

Roy Moore's concession video

Spoiler alert:

Spoiler:
He doesn't concede.

Its funny how many nincompoops actually think "pursuit of life, liberty, blah blah" is in the constitution, particularly among the "we need to go back to the constitution" crowd

Abortion, sodomy and materialism have taken the place of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Shelby not up until 2022. More likely that he runs again in 2020 and gets to face off vs Jones one more time.

Alabama isn't going to nominate him again. He's a total failure. He's done.

Right? I think this is the biggest takeaway from yesterday. Yes, the Dems won an almost unwinable seat, but thank the ****ing universe that this piece of **** isn't one of the main 100 representatives of our country.

He’s never going to concede and will be drunk in a bar years from now yelling that he is the son of god and those whores are all liars.

I watched the whole video.

The guy who wants to bring back slavery just quoted Lincoln amidst a flurry of rhetoric designed to get his disciples shooting at congressmen and women. I think I may vomit (again, I've been sick all day.)

Dear Roy, if God exists, or benevolent aliens, or bodhisattvas representing compassion for all living beings, I'm pretty sure he/they/she hates your guts.

If you look at the statue behind him, you can see where he learned to ride a horse.

This string of replies is pretty good

Cliffs are it'd take 10s of thousands of people, coordinating over 800 busses while making sure every bussed voter had the correct ID while keeping it all a secret

They aren't idiots, they know why they lost. Since they aren't changing their racist, ways, the Alabama republican party will just redouble efforts to deny the vote to black people.

I am thankful and proud of the people who voted for Doug Jones. But the people of Alabama as a whole do not get a trophy or medal today.

The half a million Evangelical, racist, scumbag, misogynist, homophobic piece of **** radical Christian terrorists who voted for Roy Moore are a much bigger problem than Doug Jones small victory was a solution.
Well said

The voter fraud thing isn't about the nuts and bolts of how it'd work, it's just a tribal signifier that any victory by a candidate who doesn't win the white male propertied class is by definition invalid.

Yep. Here for free is my top secret method of decoding deplorable-speak:

Figure out what the justifiable conclusion would be if what the deplorable is saying were true. The deplorable is simply communicating that he thinks that should happen. He's distrustful of the whole concept of "facts" and just invents his own whenever he needs any. The point of argument to him is as a flimsy justification for what he wants to happen.

So in this instance, saying there was voter fraud is just saying that it would be awesome if the election were declared invalid. There's nothing more to it than that.

Edit: I realized that's not really it. What I mean is, they're saying "My emotional state right now is that this election was unfair and should be invalid. Therefore, something happened to make me feel this way. Voter fraud!". In other words, to these people, reality is whatever feels true, to them personally.
