Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington) Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington)

Yeah there's this weird thing going around where people praise black voters(and black women in particular) for saving Alabama.

First off, ehhhhh that's getting too close to the Magical Negro cliche for my tastes

Secondly, that **** is wrong. I'm stealing this from a guy on Twitter because he worded it best, black women voting against Moore was SELF-PRESERVATION. They didn't do that for us, they did that for themselves.

Which leads me to my actual point, where's the ****ing soul searching on cable news about the cultural rot that caused 600,000 people, normal regular ass people, to vote for a wildly racist and unqualified candidate who p.s. was a goddamn pedophile? The constant need to deny agency to the right is terrible. When you run a pedophile who wants to repeal the 14th amendment no ****ing **** black women are gonna vote against him. Why didn't everyone vote against him?

This wasn't "black women saving Alabama", this was "a defeat for the reactionary side of our culture war". Alabama didn't "win", America didn't "win", one side won, and one side lost.

Corey Robin has an important take on this:

I’ve seen the opposite. Republicans: “This is actually the best thing that could have happened for us”.

That's why they're so dimly lit! The furniture and tchotchkes soak up all the light. It's natural light-baffling.

Alabama GOP officially concedes the election. Moore presumably still praying.

Meh, disagree. The more black people vote the better the country is. Thats a fact. Anything that drives black turnout is huge. I think a story of triumph where black people overcome GOP vote rigging to defeat an evil scumbag will drive turnout. Assigning agency to black women doesnt need to deny it to the right. They own the moore 100%.

The moore people are an ethnic group native to alabama and southern tennesse.Demographically they number 650,000 and own 100,000 trailer parks. They enjoy horseback riding, gunnery, dressing in festive "cowboy" hats and their native ethnic food widely known as "cracker barrel"[1]

Bingo. On top of being right most of the time, smart, fair, responsible, authentic, focused/tenacious (yesterday tweeting about net neutrality), her solitary vote and speech 16 years ago about the danger of an open ended undefined aumf leading to perpetual war puts her over the top.

Overweight eff you guy is just such a bitter angry person. I know a lot of easterners are wonderful to be around, but that guy is sooo east coast and I'd rather hang around with a wildfire or an earthquake.

Alabama district 4 seems like a nice place.

The background guys are the best thing about this gif. The two dads simultaneously pointing out how to their sons how awesome YankeeFanDouche is in real time, the guy who refuses to let this display get in the way of his popcorn eating, the guy who can't be bothered to get out of his seat. And of course the rage consumed guy screaming **** you **** you

It contains multitudes, for the first time I noticed the fat guy on the left holding back his girlfriend because she was interfering with his gesticulation
