Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington) Alabama Special Election (Roy Moore diddles, GOP thumbs up, Mr. Jones goes to Washington)

They know their targets, anyway.

Why does Moore keep staying in the race? Like, I just don't get it. Dude is a 70 year old millionaire. Go retire near a high school or something.
11-14-2017 , 06:57 PM
Trump stayed in the race because Bannon reminded him that deplorable America doesn’t care about groping women.

Moore might well have convinced himself that his conduct was fine because the Bible something something. He is next-level bonkers.

He's full on evangelical. He probably thinks he's in some cosmic battle against demonic forces.

He absolutely 100 percent believes that he did nothing wrong. The world around him has reinforced this in his mind his entire life. He got removed from being the Chief Justice, and was totally vindicated by being voted back in. The will of the people will prove him right again.

Wouldn’t even necessarily call him crazy to think that. All these people coming out now and saying they knew he was creeping on teenagers, no one ever did anything significant to stop him or penalize him. Understandable why he would believe himself to be faultless
11-14-2017 , 07:17 PM
Yeah he's a crazy person.

So, if he wins, the GOP can just appoint Strange and that's no problem? Seems odd.

If anyone has a one time left, this seems like a great place to use it.
11-14-2017 , 07:24 PM
If he wins, the Senate would have to vote him out.

The party took another step Tuesday to further distance itself from Moore when the Republican National Committee pulled out of a joint fundraising committee with his campaign, according to a new document filed with the Federal Election Commission. The decision by the national party follows a similar move Friday by the National Republican Senatorial Committee. The moves leave the Alabama Republican Party as the only other GOP entity that is participating in Moore’s fundraising efforts.

Wow there is no floor for how low this might go.

Moore is not dropping out. I don't think Bannon is going to back down. McConnell and Ryan have clearly drawn their line in the sand (Pedophilia was just a convenient spot to make their stand against the Bannon wing). I think the establishment wins this battle, but it is Alabama, and if they lose, hold on to your hat.

Either way, I expect there to be some rough primary battles within the GOP, and I'm not sure how they can keep all the seams from bursting. They probably just launch a Clinton special investigation right before 2018 vote to pull everyone back together.

Here's Dougie Jones' first attempt to capitalize on the story with an ad (that's a story, video link is here)

"I'm another Republican and I'm for Doug Jones"

I mean maybe in Alabama that's what you gotta do but jfc, these people aren't gonna vote for DJ they're gonna just stay home

Quote:
“He’s already been removed from office twice,” says one voter.

“And this time, it’s even worse,” says another.

“You read the story and it just shakes you,” says a female voter. Another female voter finishes the thought: “Just awful.”

At no point does the ad get into the particulars of the scandal
lol

Like, just condemn a grown 30+ year old man ****ing a 14 year old. Can you even do that?

100% chance that if you put one of those devices in front of your children, every one of them knows how to use it and all the apps as well as them being captured on their friends devices tangentially so you’re preventing practically nothing in trying to shield them. If you’ve somehow locked them in a basement all their lives then you’ve damaged them in other ways that will make them worse off.

The truth is by the time these kids are 40, nearly all of them will have that data trail (if it even exists by then) so it will be as damning as your common millennial ankle tattoo.

I remember this style of ad from the Ossoff campaign in GA 6th where instead of selling himself, or attacking Handel or even the GOP or Trump specifically, the attacks were just vague and oblique. Direct mailers with sad faces or angry people and then the fine print somewhere was something about Karyn Handle.

I guess the new Democratic strategy in red states isn't to be their own champion or attack the GOP or their candidates but to simply be inscrutable. Maybe voters will just be confused and Democrats will randomly win sometimes. I guess this might work if our opponents are pedophiles. Doesn't seem viable in most cases.

I see you're just meeting adios, his character is right around where Moore is.

I don't have a problem with that ad given the circumstances of this race. I think just going full negative on Moore without mentioning the word "Democrat" or any of Jones' policies is probably the best play here. The path to a Jones victory is lots of Republicans staying home and lots of Dems turning out. You're not going to convince many Republicans to vote for a Democrat no matter what, so at least try to convince them that they can't vote for Moore.
11-14-2017 , 09:00 PM
Donald Trump is the president of the United States.

A Democrat winning a senate seat in Alabama wouldn’t surprise me.

Neither would be the deplorables voting for a man who when he was 32 years old tried to date and sexually assault 14 year old girls.

I️ don’t know what to think.

Ok, but the path to lots of Dems (and moderates) turning out should involve PROMISES TO IMPROVE PEOPLE'S LIVES. Like why not campaign on getting healthcare for Alabamans or workers' rights or education? Now is the time that on the fence R leaners will be most receptive to the Democrat's message. Why not do like the slogan says and offer them a better ****ing deal?

Rush Limbaugh is running with "when Moore did those things he was a Democrat!"

Have we got an update hannity take?
11-15-2017 , 12:44 AM
I think he gave Moore a ultimatum to prove he didn't do it.

Hannity is the ultimate cuck. Talks a load of **** but at the end of the day backs down. He probably got a talking to from his boses.
