I like how he quotes the 'just as likely to get mugged in London as New York' part, but leaves out the 40x more likely to die in NY as a result, bit

How about this for a start: We change the definition of responsible gun owner from anyone who hasn't yet shot a person they shouldn't have to actually being legally responsible.

My friend is a notary public and she is responsible for keeping her stamp secured. She is liable for damages if it is stolen and used for fraud. Meanwhile a responsible gun owner and gun rights advocate I used to argue with on another forum had guns stolen twice out of his truck while it was warming up in front of his house.

All of these illegally obtained guns were legally manufactured and most legally purchased first.

If the right is untouchable, make the responsiblity match the risk.

In my neverending quest to brighten up people's day I thought I would point out that the number of people who are evil enough to carry out mass murder is almost certainly far higher than the number who actually do it. Because to carry out such an act it not only requires that you hate others and don't value their lives but also two other things.

1. You feel this way about virtually everybody with basically no exceptions (including children). And

2. You don't mind the fact that you have no chance of getting away with it.

I would think that at least 95% of sociopaths who would have no problem killing most people and in fact probably fantasize about it, do not meet the above two criteria. That might include your neighbor.

And if they don't have easy access to weapons you can hope they are simply lazy and so you dodge even more perpetrators.

Still no confirmation, assuming you mean Oxford Circus. Could have been a robbery or gangland stuff for all we know so far.

TFL says Oxford Circus and Bond Street stations have reopened. Police haven't found any evidence of gunshots. No casualties #OxfordCircus

Probably just the Daily Mail doing their thing, then, I guess.

If your being intentionally obtuse, it's kinda disgusting.

when the guy bumped this thread he was talking about 235+ people killed in the Egypt Mosque attack, one of the worst attacks all time on civilians anywhere in the world. There was a blast and then gunmen mowed down civilians who were fleeing.

I assumed the guy was intentionally ignoring it for some reason, not sure how you could miss the Egypt attack on the news while being aware of the Oxford "pops"

This might also be noteworthy: Egypt attack: More than 230 killed in Sinai mosque

Militants have launched a bomb and gun attack on a mosque in Egypt's North Sinai province, killing 235 people, state media say.

Just that it was/is happening at the time, was thinking more of the 'active' than 'recent' part. Pretty embarrassing.

Oh, sorry, see what you mean. Fair point.

It just looked like you were referring to the minor London event with the assumption that there must have been a terrorist angle.

There is a good summary here. Awful stuff.

Trump thinks this has something to do with a wall between the US and Mexico.

Which it doesn't, obviously.

His 1st tweet about the incident was a rare respectful and presidential tweet from him. But he couldn't allow that to last so his 2nd tweet about it of course has to be ridiculous and unrelated.

Asked my deplorable dad about this tweet, he said it makes sense because the cartel is smuggling terrorists across the boarder.

Pretty sure I can get all the right wing talking points directly from him.

305 now the casualty count from Egypt. As many as 2 dozen gunmen
11-25-2017 , 03:47 PM
The gunmen are still all on the loose?
