In the end, yours just burden shifting and motivated reasoning of the fevered anti-Muslim mind. All mass murderers are potentially jihadis until proven otherwise, and no standard is provided as to what could ever prove it otherwise.
It's not a coincidence it's the same few people (you, jalfrezi, ChrisV, domer) who most seriously entertained this possibility (sorry Chris, I like you but you know it's a thing for you). That's a tell -- you guys consciously or subconsciously are titillated and enthralled with the potential he's some converted Muslim jihadi so you can wax hottakes on genocide and religious wars and whatever the **** else you guys prattle on about after Real Terrorist attacks. It's moments like this that lay it all bare. At least when a Muslim is behind the gun or the explosion, you have plausible deniability. Continuing to pine this dude is secretly ISIS and argue the judgement hangs suspended in the air forever is demonstrative of the warped mindset you tote around.
Not even sure what you are getting at here. I don't "want" it to be Islamic terrorism, so gtfo with the condescending attitude.
I am speaking of motive, of which there currently appears to be none. And yet we have baseless speculation about him going busto, having a brain tumor, his gf dumped him, crazy runs in his family, etc. Any wild theory is OK to speculate about I guess, as long as it's not the one that actually makes the most logical sense.
He amassed an arsenal including bomb making materials, planned and executed a massive attack killing and injuring hundreds. By all accounts he had plenty of money and was not crazy. ISIS official news agency claims responsibility (not "random ISIS twitter accounts").
These things all point to a possible motive and as the investigation unfolds we will likely find out of ISIS was just taking credit for the actions of a random wacko, or if he actually did convert to Islam. Why you act like it's some sort of moral failing to consider it a possibility is beyond me.
Latest news is he wired 100k to the Philippines shortly before the attack. Not the acts of a typical busto degen. Could be money to help the girlfriend or her family and be a nothingburger. But either way I'm not taking some FBI statement a few hours after the shooting as proof the ISIS claim was fabricated. If it was, we will find out as with other recent false claims of responsibility by ISIS.
