The Sinai is packed w/ them and the Egyptians are at a loss despite having a functioning government and army.

It was an attack on the Sufis, the hippie Muslims.

I think more voices (esoteric factions) should have a say, or more of a say, in the political process because or else terrorism seems the only avenue they feel that they have, lol.

I usually wouldn't bother, but given that you're now up to 32 posts and they all have something in common, I can't hold back any longer.

"lol" stands for "laughing out loud", and is usually used when something quite funny is said. A smiley face emoticon is similar in that regard. You don't need to include them in...

every.

single.

post.

Especially when they make absolutely no sense.

It's starting to make you look like some kind of strange spammy posting bot - I actually searched this thread for part of your post to make sure it hadn't been cut-and-pasted like those bots do.

always unnerving to see this thread at the top of the forum...

all that's out so far is 'possible pipe bomb' and 'no reported injuries as of yet', so thankfully whatever it was doesn't seem that bad.

Every time I see these breaking news alerts I am just praying "dont let it be a muslim, black person, immigrant or democrat(nowadays)."

The gun thread should scare you more.

Seems like another complete moron who can't even google how to make a successful pipe bomb. But a threat to the human race.

Turns out the attacker was not mentally ill?

They have video of his practice run:

These people are amazingly bad at doing the terrorism.

Looks like we may have NON BROWN, this guy was dragged from the vehicle:

Best guess probably still Islamist, but who knows. Police keeping details under wraps.

It's a bit like the recent New York attacks here. Although it's big news on news sites of course, I'm in near constant contact with a bunch of Melbournians and none of them have even mentioned it.

Driver was an Australian of Afghan descent, but it appears to not be Islam related. Police: "We don't at this time have any evidence or any intelligence to indicate there's a connection with terrorism". Guy has a history of mental health issues, drug abuse and violence.

Rumi!!!!

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right doing
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,
the world is too full to talk about.
Ideas, language, even the phrase each other
doesn’t make any sense.”

(Sorry for the quick hijack. To keep it somewhat on topic, I had no idea that attack was on Sufis. I have always assumed that they were as close to universally liked/accepted as any Muslim group)

Seems kind of odd that an ex-Marine would convert to Islam and plot to blow up a giant Christmas tree with fireworks. Encouraged by some FBI agents posing as Islamic State supporters as well. Big win in the War on Christmas!

Interesting what that article focuses on. I happened to catch local news last night (in San Diego, they had an interest because he was stationed at Camp Pendleton here) and they said he was divorced and had recently lost his kids in a custody battle (not to his ex, but to foster care - **** must have been bad with him). But this article is like "yep, ISIS, just your typical Muslim ****".
