fyi, 32,000 pregnancies each year in USA from rape and incest. 30% choose to give birth.

We all knew our governor was an idiot, but just when we thought couldn't possibly be any dumber, he goes and does something like this... and totally redeems himself!

A well thought out, sourced, and reasoned argument.

Indiana passed a law prohibiting abortions motivated by the fetus' gender, race, or disability.

Planned Parenthood excepted, arguing that, previability, the fetus does not have constitutional rights.

Indiana is arguing against eugenics.

How, precisely, would the state prove the motivation for the abortion?
03-11-2019 , 09:40 AM
A change of heart after genetic testing might create a reasonable inference even where an outright admission does not occur.
03-11-2019 , 09:43 AM
"Reasonable inference" != "Beyond reasonable doubt"

Seems like an unenforceable law with the sole purpose of intimidating women into not having abortions.
03-11-2019 , 09:52 AM
I guess Planned Parenthood should pack it in and not bother, then.

closer look:

Quote:
(a) A person who knowingly or intentionally performs an abortion in violation of this chapter may be subject to:

(1) disciplinary sanctions under IC 25-1-9;  and

(2) civil liability for wrongful death.

(b) A pregnant woman upon whom an abortion is performed in violation of this chapter may not be prosecuted for violating or conspiring to violate this chapter.
not even PBARD standard, it is doctor intimidation

I’m sure the state of Indiana is on the side of the angels here.

So I am in Canada and don't get the debate.

Can someone give me cliffs on abortion laws and why they are still such a big deal 50 years later since that sitcom aired?

one side thinks a mysterious invincible space man snaps his fingers when sperm meets egg and its a human and the other side are too often reasonable people that try to compromise.

Georgia House passed the "heartbeat bill" yesterday, which would ban abortion after 6 weeks. jfc.

Here's the response from a Democratic lawmaker, who is quickly moving up my hero ladder:

from the comments of that tweet lies the reason behind all the abortion problems..

Quote:
You do realize that the biggest victim of abortion is African-American babies? They could be the person God has chosen to find the cure to cancer. Or be Governor of Georgia one day. Or the President. Or bring peace to the world. Yet, you are for murdering them. Sad!!!
that mass of cells might be the GOD CHOSEN BRINGER OF ALL GOODZ!!

Like nine things wrong with that one sentence.

If god did indded have the power to choose which baby would be able to cure cancer 1) why create cancer in the first place 2) why not prevent that particular baby from being aborted 3) why not choose a different baby who wasnt being aborted to cure cancer. 4) why not allow someone already living to cure cancer.

Like, you have to literally have a non working brain to make that stupid ****ing argument. Your god is either all powerful or he isnt. You dont get to ****ing pick and choose.
03-12-2019 , 05:21 PM
That baby is much more likely to become a serial killer than cure cancer. Do you really want more serial killers in this world?

Yeah you do get to pick and choose you moran! It's called trials and tribulations! He's testing you!

I tried to use the same argument with my parents when they said my Aunt's cancer was cured because she prayed. Well why'd he give her it in the first place? Well ya see that's the Devil's work. It's truly mind numbing.
03-13-2019 , 09:29 AM
Yeah it drives me nuts. My wife watches some true crime stuff, and every episode, whether the outcome is death or people being reunited you get "We prayed to god, and..." either A)"He returned our baby to us" even though this means he had to have allowed your baby to be taken in the first place or B) "even though he took our baby away, we know shes in a better place now."

This god guy has a pretty good racket going. Literally can't lose.

6th Circuit, featuring 4 Trump appointees and overturning two lower courts, rules 11-6 that Ohio law defunding Planned Parenthood is constitutional

Quote:
The lower courts’ opinions cited Supreme Court precedent against placing unconstitutional conditions on the receipt of federal funds, but the appeals court majority said the law did not impose such conditions because private organizations, such as Planned Parenthood, had no guaranteed right to funds for anything, including to perform or advocate abortion.
I wonder when conservatives will apply this logic to private religious organizations
03-13-2019 , 12:42 PM
Never. Religion is the OG grift and they're just milking it and the rubes that buy the bs for all it's worth.

District court judge rules North Carolina's 20-week abortion ban unconstitutional

Somewhere Kavanaugh is smiling, his big day is growing closer

Quote:
U.S. District Judge William Osteen sided with the advocacy groups this week, writing that courts across the country have struck down “week- or event-specific abortion bans” and North Carolina’s is no different.

Under the ruling — which will take effect in 60 days, pending an appeal from the state or revised legislation — women will be able to seek abortions at any point before a doctor determines the fetus is “viable” and could be able to survive outside the womb.
