gf and i will be moving to dallas for her surgical internship in june and we will both be voting.

in fact, i think i'll do some volunteer campaign work
04-15-2018 , 10:39 AM
I might be doing some volunteering in Nevada as well. Probably for the Dem Senate candidate but maybe for Chris G for governor.
04-15-2018 , 10:58 AM
Senate race probably ranks higher in importance imo

Now I'm confused because Bill Kristol is always wrong, but this sounds about right.

We will all probably be counting on the New York Attorney General for any semblance of justice out of this whole debacle. Trump and friends doing their time in Attica as opposed to club fed would make for better schadenfreude anyway.

Does he not understand the senate's roll in the impeachment process?
04-18-2018 , 11:49 AM
If someone asked you whether you would vote to impeach Trump would your answer be that you are currently not a member of or candidate for the House of Representatives?
04-18-2018 , 03:41 PM
if you vote for me i WILL vote to convict in the senate even if there's no evidence or if the evidence presented to me is clearly fabricated. that's the ScreaminAsian promise.

I'm guessing this doesn't hurt vulnerable Republicans, because they can leave without worrying about any votes being brought to the floor? Whereas if a few vulnerable Dems leave to campaign, McConnell can take advantage of it by bringing a vote?

I'm sure John "Regular Order" McCain, Jeff "The Truth Matters" Flake and Bob "Conflicted" Corker will be lining up to prevent this by refusing to vote with the GOP in the event that Mitch schedules votes to screw over campaigning Dems...

Corker says Democrat is ahead in race to succeed him
Quote:
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) offered warm words on Wednesday for the Democrat vying to take his seat, estimating that former Gov. Phil Bredesen is six percentage points ahead of GOP rival Rep. Marsha Blackburn.

After reiterating a vow that he would not campaign against Bredesen, Corker also declared that there's "no question" the Democrat would "have crossover appeal" in November's closely watched race to succeed him.

Yes, I would explain that impeachment would be as much of my job duties as would be performing open heart surgery as a senator.
04-19-2018 , 04:36 PM
I guess that's why Beto O'Rourke is mounting a reasonable challenge to Ted Cruz in Texas and you aren't

Trump tariffs could hurt the GOP badly in Midwest midterm elections

Quote:
“If he doesn’t understand what he’s doing to the nation by doing what he’s doing, he’s going to be a one-term president, plain and simple,” said Mr. Runck, a fourth-generation farmer who voted for Mr. Trump. Pausing outside the post office in this town of 2,300, Mr. Runck said the repercussions could be more immediate for Representative Kevin Cramer, a Republican whose bid against Senator Heidi Heitkamp, a Democrat, has been complicated by the proposed tariffs.

“If it doesn’t get resolved by election time, I would imagine it would cost Kevin Cramer some votes,” he said.

Stern warnings are coming from all over the Midwest about the political peril for Republicans in Mr. Trump’s recent course of action, in which the tariffs he slapped on foreign competitors invited retaliatory tariffs on American agriculture. Soybeans are America’s second largest export to China, and that country’s proposed 25 percent duties on the crop would hit hardest in states like Iowa, Kansas and Minnesota — where there are highly competitive House races — as well as Indiana, Missouri and North Dakota, whose Senate contests may determine control of the chamber.

Romney forced into GOP primary for Utah Senate nomination
Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney failed to secure the Utah Republican Party's nomination for Senate on Saturday, triggering a June primary.

In the final round of voting at the party's convention, state Rep. Mike Kennedy (R) won 50.88 percent of the vote, with Romney following with 49.12 percent.

...

Saturday's defeat was a surprising turn for Romney, whose national profile far exceeds Kennedy's and who could count on a strong donor network and the endorsement of prominent Republicans, including Hatch and President Trump.

When he made his bid official, Romney was considered a virtual lock for the GOP nomination and was not expected to face a serious primary challenger.

Lol this is so awkward. Corker doesn't seem very enthusiastic about Blackburn.

Saying that a vote for her is a vote for Mitch McConnell isn't even an endorsement. Even among Republicans, McConnell isn't particularly popular. Would have been far better for Blackburn to tie her to Trump's agenda.

Given the story that McConnell attacked him for his failure to support Blackburn, it seems like this may be intentionally sticking it to McConnell.

MSNBC saying he endorsed Bredesden

04-22-2018 , 09:45 PM
loooool thats kind of awesome, all the usual disclaimers about corker being a POS apply of course

****ing Mitch McConnell is the legit WOAT and I would gladly spend at least a few months in jail for the opportunity to punch him in the face
04-22-2018 , 09:57 PM
Nice shiv by Corker. Looks like someone done pissed him off.
04-22-2018 , 11:08 PM
Yeah, this is definitely more than being concerned and deeply troubled. Not much more, but it's significant. I wonder what pushed him over the edge.
