Lol, dude, “it’s possible” is not a good ****ing look for our candidate when we are going up against the Republican Party and their multiple media propaganda juggernauts.

better to run the bland centrist then? that will really get out the vote. im sure a bunch of republicans and swing voters that voted Rick ****ing Scott, would have voted but now they aren't gonna come out?

Look at FL Gov election for the GOP.

DeSantis-901K votes
Putnam-595K votes

Now look at the Dems.

Gillum-490K
Graham-462K
Levine-294K
Greene-150K

(From CNN front page)

Pretty much 100K more R voters than D voters. And this is with Trump being hated by anyone that's not GOP. This is why the GOP doesn't do **** about Trump. No one is showing up to vote. You know all the R voters will vote in November for De****stain while the D voters are gonna ****ing write in Mickey Mouse or something.
Gillum is gonna get hurt by his stance on the Medicare thing. A large portion of the democratic vote in the southeast counties is high income displaced Northeast folks who he will lose on Medicare for all idea. They’re probably going to stay home more than vote for DeSantis but I don’t think Gillum can win if the white democratic vote doesn’t show up in Palm Beach Broward or Dade.

then yes, i would agree with all of that.

i believe i saw that gillum was the only candidate in the entire field D or R that wasn't a multi-millionaire, plus there was atleast 1 billionaire.
08-28-2018 , 11:44 PM
I'm sure this Gillum guy is a milquetoast lib, but **** yeah. I'm glad he won. He's clearly pissing some people off already just by not being a hard right-winger.
08-28-2018 , 11:46 PM
lolzona. joe arpaio got 76k votes (20%)..

McSally wins with 51.42%
08-29-2018 , 12:49 AM
I don't know who McSally is I'll simply accept being neither of Arpaio or Ward.
08-29-2018 , 12:51 AM
that FL gov race looks solid R--Nelson's gotta get his *** in gear if he wants to retain his senate seat.

Ward supporter: McSally is McCain in a skirt.

Kyrsten Sinema, the Dem, would have crushed against either Ward or Arpaio.

The final tallies I'm seeing are:
GOP 1,623,442
Dem 1,514,774

So that's a ratio of 1.07 to 1 in favor of the GOP. Not great, but there's a much bigger picture here. First, let's put this in historical perspective. The last time I found both primaries being contested with non-incumbents in Florida was 2010.

GOP 1,282,957
Dem 863,698

That's a ratio of 1.49 to 1 in favor of the GOP, and they only went on to win the election ~2.6M to ~2.55M, or 48.9% to 47.7%. That said, the GOP did have a more competitive primary - but the Dems had a more competitive Senate primary that year.

Okay, what about those factors this year? Well the Dems had a more competitive primary, but the GOP got a lot more media coverage. I hadn't heard of any of the Dems running until tonight, but I knew all about DeSantis with that stupid ad he ran. The GOP race got national coverage and I think a lot more money was spent on that side, as well. Meanwhile on the Senate side, the GOP had a contested primary and the Dems did not.

So I think overall the turnout numbers here should be encouraging to Dems in Florida. That said, the polling between Scott/Nelson is still pretty scary.

Gillum and these people are all winning because of Sanders.

It really seems like Sanders 2020 is going to happen.
08-29-2018 , 04:14 AM
I love me some bernie and would 100% vote for him given the chance but a 79 year old being elected to president seems pretty far fetched.
08-29-2018 , 04:20 AM
What difference does it make?

The GOP will hammer him for his age, and claim it should disqualify him for health reasons. So what if Trump is only four years younger? He's in outstanding health! Just ask Dr. Feelgood and Dr. Hippie. He's nothing but energy and stamina, and he's the smartest ever with no mental decline.

But crazy grandad Bernie, I don't know about him, he's even older... and he looks a little crazy. The last thing we need is a crazy demented socialist!

Most of that won't stick, but they'll get to scrutinize the **** out of his VP pick... and that could be major trouble for Dems, because his VP pick is likely to be relatively inexperienced, possibly too extreme for a lot of Americans' taste, and it just goes from there...

It also makes it hard for Dems to hammer Trump for being old and out of touch and unstable.
08-29-2018 , 05:19 AM
Seems trivial

Also a lot of voters are old
08-29-2018 , 06:30 AM
I really really hope the polling **** ups in Florida are a sign that the polling in NY is ****ed up too and Nixon actually has a chance.
08-29-2018 , 06:46 AM
Nixon getting even 40% would be more shocking than any election of the last few years.

She might not get 30%.

I'll be voting for her if for no other reason than to say **** you to Cuomo and feel a little tiny bit better about myself that day.
08-29-2018 , 07:01 AM
Sanders may be old, but he'll be able to go on the attack in ways Clinton never did and point out Trump's bull****. Clinton was never really able to do that b/c when a woman does that, she looks like a "*****." It's stupid, but it's the truth. A lot of voters, men especially, don't like women in power.

Florida has closed primaries, too. So you have to consider how independents will break.

Christ, DeSantis is a huge Trump slappy.

Wonder if he had any problem with Trump's Purple Heart?

Obama Apology Tour!

Anti-Trump!

Oh **** off.

If it comes to this I would love to see Bernie challenge Trump to a decathlon type event, Billy Madison style. Maybe a race from the oval office to the situation room. Would be hilarious and no shot Trump could beat Bernie in any athletic event (aside from sumo wrestling of course).
