There's still a centipedes worth of shoes to drop before the mid-terms, and I suspect most of them will be bad for Trump.
Desensitization.

My 16yo worked at a polling station all day. I haven't had the chance to talk to her about it yet though.
Report was about 20% of people had to vote provisional either because they were left off the rolls or they were vote-by-mail and the ballot never came.

this is the best campaign I've ever seen. I wish I lived in NY and could vote for her.

I don't really disagree, but certainly driving a wedge between Trump and R candidates probably could depress the R turnout. And the big agribusiness R donors might have a second thought about opening their campaign checkbooks if the president's policies are not serving them. Too early to know for sure, but I would certainly think the Democrats should push these lines, especially in California where the Trump tax plan raised taxes for many.

There are still millions of votes to be counted in California.

LA County estimates 500K mail ballots + provisional ballots
Orange county 180K (watch CA-48 here)
Stanislaus county 40K (CA-10)
Santa Clara "35%" ~100K+
Sacramento 235K

So that's over a million, and I gave up looking for more county info after that. Obviously the governor's race is set and the propositions shouldn't change, but I imagine it's too early to call much anything else.

Some mostly boring primaries today:
- Nevada chooses who will challenge Heller
- North Dakota chooses who will challenge Heitkamp
- Virginia chooses who will challenge Kaine - currently leading that tally (barely) is the guy who barely lost the governor primary to Gillespie and is a hardcore deplorable
- South Carolina currently has Mark Sanford down 49-47 (7% reporting) in his primary, Trump tweeted at 4pm ET (polls closed at 7) in support of his opponent because Sanford isn't MAGA enough
06-12-2018 , 09:08 PM
Update: Sanford losing 52-45 with 40% reporting, I guess he's gonna have plenty of time now to visit Argentina

And NYT has given the checkmark to the VA Senate candidate who tried to befriend white supremacist Paul Nehlen

Quote:
Most recently, Democrats and supporters of state Del. Nicholas J. “Nick” Freitas (R-Culpeper) — Stewart’s chief opponent in Tuesday’s primary — have used social media to highlight a 17-month-old video of Stewart calling Paul Nehlen, a self-professed “pro-white” candidate for Congress in Wisconsin, his “personal hero,” while praising him for challenging House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.).

Thought the Republicans learned last time that white supremacy doesn't play well statewide in VA elections.

Sanford spoke out against Trump once in South Carolina so not surprised. Think he called the stupid **** with Canada stupid, which is an egregious offense to not fall in line with dictator Trump in the R party, maybe one or two of the freedom caucus survive but that's prob it at this point.

Honesty is not your friend in politics.

This also serves as a cautionary tale to Repubs who might think that it's their job to be an actual check on the Executive Branch. The GOP is Trump's party now and they can get with the program or gtfo.

No but an actual white supremacist is the GOP senate candidate in VA

Sanford was a freedom caucus hardliner who had more charm than the avg dirtbag and was even more effective and more dangerous. Good riddance.

Nevada chooses who will challenge Heller -

It's a woman named Jackie Rosen, who's been in the House for about 20 minutes and (so far) in her commercials looks to either be slightly brain damaged or heavily sedated.

I think Heller hangs on to the seat unless she REALLY ups her game. I would think there had to be a better choice for the dem nomination, but maybe not.....

I may be - I've only see one commercial from her, several times, and it (to me) was ****ing awful.

Then again, I'm probably not the demographic she's shooting at, but the spot was generic, bland and she (as I said) seemed sedated.

I've seen a couple of spots for Heller - slick, pushing experience, and no formal mention of the Donald, which is probably a good idea here IMHO.

So, I dunno - if Rosen steps up her game, she certainly has a shot - it isn't like Heller is super popular. He's definitely vulnerable.

Crazy status of fight for Rohrbacher's seat. Both candidates are lib/moderate dems.

Rosen is fine...I talked to her briefly last year...she's smart and driven. But yeah, she needs better production value.

Now THIS is the kind of ad that will galvanize voters:

One of the best campaign ads I've ever seen.

speaking of great ads, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez election is on the 26th...

Wouldn't doubt it. I was only commenting on her ads.

We'll see, I guess.

Hobbes,

You're like 0 for 10 in quoting people and it's not even the same problem every time.

So I'm consistently inconsistent. Or something.

Awesome. Fantastic response to "and replace it with?"

Cuomo has recently got on board with legalized marijuana (link). Nixon ain't gonna win, but by the time this primary is over, Cuomo might be the most liberal governor in America lol.
