@skydiver: I guess you're asking about Georgia? In AZ, my local school board candidates were supposedly nonpartisan. But if you look at their biographies and policy statements, it's pretty clear how they line up wrt party.

1) I had no idea. Never heard of the guy.
2) Story must have sunk like a stone in Nevada - I still can't find any mention of it anywhere online - maybe my google skills need work.
3) If I had just managed to "head" something that resulted in the equivalent of a 10-car-pile up (losing an incumbent senate seat and a governorship that's been in the GOP since 1999), I'd be as quiet as possible, instead of advertising my inadequacy as a leader. And he gets credit for not beating Harry Reid the last time, when Harry was as popular as Ebola, and still won when the Nev GOP ran a certifiable loon as a candidate.

So, I'm happy to have been corrected.

Nevada GOP party is a complete mess.
Not surprised Hobbes hasn't heard about Macdonald. Former LV cop and councilman with multiple shady dealings.
Wayne Allen Root is a former sports tout and general scumbag. Figured politics is an easier scam.
Of course, this all goes through Adelson's newspaper, the LVRJ.
Deplorables gonna deplorable.

I've been trying to figure out Sandoval's next move - he was (I thought) a pretty good gov., got term limited out. Maybe run for the non-Heller senate seat next time it's up?

He's not nearly crazy enough for the sort of GOP voters that generally turn up in midterms - I could actually see him walking across the aisle to join the dems but I don't know if that is a realistic (or smart) play.

I voted for Sandoval. In a sane world Republican Party he's ready to go national. Current environment? No idea. An organized NV R party would have dumped Heller for him.

edit:
Cortez is in until 2022 so that's out.
Hook up with Gavin Newsome as VP in 2020 or 2024

So when will we get our first post e day MI poll to find out if we have any kind of sweat?

Utah-4 has tightened, but D-McAdams still has a 50.2-49.8 lead.

They are going to give McSally the seat currently being occupied by Kyl. Then she'll be able to run as an incumbent in 2020. That might be why she's not being an ass.

Ok that makes sense, I was wondering after calling Sinema a traitor a few weeks ago she was being gracious in defeat

Does AZ have any kind of bench to compete for that seat in 2020? I know Janet Napolitano is a former D gov of AZ, I've not heard of any of the non-Sinema D congresscritters from AZ but Ruben Gallego (Phoenix area) is a Marine veteran, Harvard grad, and member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, could be good.

I feel like that Senate seat is going to be tough to flip. There's always some kind of weird dynamic surrounding keeping it within the party since the prior Senator was so beloved.

Two years is a long time, so don't think people will be thinking of it as the McCain seat.

Also, a former beloved Senator didn't help the D's keep Ted Kennedy's seat.

Two reasons why the Arizona GOP are acting like normal human beings:

1) The Arizona GOP has a shred of decency to not try to make up conspiracy theories
2) Trump is why the GOP lost the senate race so if they adapt the Trump position of "ZOMG fraud!" then it will hurt them even more

Arresting State Legislators on the floor of of the legislature is probably not a good look

Who was that guy at the microphone for the second half of that video?

Somehow a worse performance than Hyde-Smith's homage to Marshawn Lynch.

More openly racist than Roy Moore, but still prob not quite enough of a child molestor to actually lose in Mississsippi

Republican candidate in Maine trying to steal a seat by suing to prevent Maine from using ranked preference for runoff and wants to be declared winner since he won plurality of the vote.

lmao, what a blatant rigging attempt. Dude would presumably not have even won without ranked choice voting:

Quote:
Exit polling found that voters who supported an independent candidate as their first choice leaned Golden’s way on the second-choice ranking, according to the Bangor Daily News.
The entire point of ranked choice voting is, you can throw votes at whatever dumb candidates you want and still have a say in the final choice if the independent candidates get eliminated. If the 5% of people or whatever who voted for the leading independent thought only their first vote would be counted (as this guy's lawsuit is trying to ensure), many of them likely would not have voted independent at all!

Trying to change the rules of voting ex post facto, GOP is full of such shameless slimeballs

This whole deadline for counting votes thing is so stupid. How about just let the votes get counted and if it takes a while, it takes a while? It's not like people want this drawn out, so they aren't going to take a week off from counting or something.
