I saw a funny video today. All these droolers should go into their bosses' office and demand a $4k raise* because of the tax bill and see what happens.

*This is what Trump claimed the average wage increase would be from the tax bill.

You mean the same people who are convinced the investigation the investigation into Hillary’s emails was irreparably influenced because Bill Clinton talked to Loretta Lynch for 15 minutes, but haven’t said a peep about Trump asking the head of the FBI to take it easy on Flynn, asking him for a loyalty pledge, sending his press secretary to make public announcements disparaging Muller and lying to the public about the investigation? Nah, never woulda guessed it.

Trump's first deficit will likely be bigger than Obama's last few.

Ranking in GDP per Capita (CIA World Factbook 2016):
Luxembourg #4
Norway #13
Switzerland #17
USA #19

Social Welfare Spending as % of GDP:
Norway 25.1%
Luxembourg 21.8%
Switzerland 19.7%
USA 19.3%

And I could only find welfare spending stats from the OECD. Some countries and territories don't have those stats available, at least from a quick Google search. I'm guessing the following are also ahead of us in both: Liechtenstein, Monaco, Isle of Man.

The tax cuts cost $1.5 trillion.

$1B = .001 trillion.

I think their bonuses are something like .0002 trillion. Too lazy at the moment to go back and check.

This is the response, beat them over the head with it.

It must really suck to be a liberal.
So, let's increase powers to unions (what have actually been behind most of these increases) and lobby for increases in minimum wage, right?

lol, he's either lying or he owns like 3 shares of some company that pays dividends. bro is reaping a sick extra $35/year and calling it an income stream

ins0, at what point will the owner of your company give you a pay raise that's attributable to the tax bill?
12-21-2017 , 05:04 PM
Tax cuts isn't a law yet and all of a sudden these companies have plenty of $ to hand out to employees.

It can't possibly only have to do with the PR they're getting out of it.

Initial results are not promising.

You are correct that it's unfair to do a direct comparison of USA and the Scandinavian countries that the internet likes to put on their, "See?! It works!" pedestal, but I'm somewhat flexible on that.

I read an interesting stat recently that Scandinavian countries actually have the highest birth rate to unwed mothers. This blew my mind, given how strong the correlation is in the US to being generally ****ed if you're born to an unwed mother.

Maybe more government handouts ARE the solution to all of our problems. I'm just so conflicted!
12-21-2017 , 05:19 PM
Birth rates to single mothers are very similar across the board. What is different between the US and the Nordic countries the the US child poverty rate is at least double to triple the Nordic's child poverty rate.

Turns out they got Collins to vote for it by sending Ivanka up to Maine to meet with her.

Susan, you're such a fool.

Hard to say, but I work in small business.

My pay went up significantly this year and I got a bonus that can be described as obscene this week, but it was not specifically attributed to the tax bill.

One of our businesses makes money selling luxury services to people in the 1%. I live in the trickle-down world every day. None of these people NEED anything we do for them, but their dollars are passed through the hands of dozens/hundreds of people that touch their projects in some way. Our clients aren't just taking their million dollar bonuses and stuffing it in a mattress like so many on the left seem to believe.

Tax cuts are going to help us boost profits, and I'm sure I'll see another generous piece of that next year if things continue going well.
12-21-2017 , 05:54 PM
I don't have anything to add to the discussion here, but I want to point out that I just got an improbably huge raise. I am also very tall.

What makes you most angry about this bill?

Is it because it goes mostly to people who are actually paying taxes? I know that's not normally how government spending works, but it's a nice change of pace.

Is it because it only raises the national debt by 1.5T, when GOAT Obama could've easily bumped that up to 5T without breaking a sweat?

Is Charlie Sheen still alive? Time to get him a red hat and go on a #WINNING tour.

I am definitely glad to see the CWA earning some of its dues over at AT&T, if Fly is correct. However, that's a new hot take. Everyone else ITT is saying this is purely a PR stunt to get the merger through. Not sure who to believe now! Or maybe it's both. Good guy employee union lays the negotiation smackdown on an employer, who then turns around and couches it in a show of good faith to hide their shame, while simultaneously manipulating the media to provide good press and help their insidious merger along.

Honestly, I don't know how you guys even get out of bed in the morning with the world being as scary as it is. Capitalists around every corner just waiting to steal your lunch money.

Its not a great bill for all

It's a great bill for people making a million a year + or people that have more than 11 but less than 22 million to leave when they die

and corporations

I know you like to go all Simple Jack, but unless you fall into one of the categories above, this tax bill isnt for you

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- AT&T has announced layoff’s affecting people in five states, including Missouri.

They got Collins to vote for it by cutting taxes for the rich (specifically her donors). The rest was just theater.

Yeah Inso is the Trump voting kind of callous and dishonest racist so he says Europe doesn't count because of how scared he is of Muslims, but it's important to also remember the still racist but not as explicitly racist intellectual "NeverTrump" conservative is also extremely extremely stupid and will literally die before they let us improve the lives of the poor.
